There's no way on earth I'd subject my car to that ! However, those are some of the best pics I've ever seen of any car, thanks !

Apart from all the fun of driving, it was also great to get behind the camera and experience it from a 'spectators view' - its not often (well it hardly ever happens) that I see my car from the outside and can hear the engine and so on when it is being driven in some 'anger'.....in all....a couple of great days out......I would recommend this to anyone!

p.s. Yes I know its not ideal to shoot into the sun as it were which is why the exposure is a bit iffy - but thsi was no orchestrated event - it was just shooting what was available as it happened. It would have been far better to photograph in the other direction of course...... I will definitely be doing it again so I think better photos will be forthcoming in the coming weeks!

You're the only person in the world who - if your car was nicked by joy-riders, they would take better care of it than you!

Great pics Christer, must have been so much fun.

I think the beach used on Top Gear was called Pendine Sands.

Yes, at one point I was at 100mph, although at that speed I wasn't doing any 'tricks' - I was just driving near the surf so that the water would spray....

I think the best fun when I was driving (and no photos were being taken) was actually going sort of sideways at 60mph for a couple of hundred yards with a female passenger who really did *not* enjoy the experience.

Look.....a 964 is a very special car but a car nontheless. Driving like we did on the sand from an engine point of view is not harsh as the revs are actually pretty low - the car will spin its wheels even at 2000rpm. Going sideays at 60mph is just a 3rd gear drift at say 4000rpm or so. I realise the sand will take its toll on paintwork, brakes and so on but all this stuff is just maintenance. If sand somehow gets in the engine then I guess its rebuild time (again) I still maintain that whoever owns this car after me - if anyone - will still have one of the best looked after cars as any damage or wear caused will be fully rectified on an ongoing basis. Doing donuts on tarmac is obviously a different thing altogether - far higher revs are needed....

Johnny

I was thinking on the day that it would have been great to video....the car sounds quite different to some 964's due to the modifications. Its a bit NASCAR like in its tone....I will see what I can do. I might just have to get the long-retired IXUS 500 out for that as I really can't remember whether I actually have a digicamcorder!

Looks like a blast and would do it in a heartbeat if there was anywhere around here where i could. Yep its just a car! Be carefull you dont dig the rims in while going sideways. That could make a awfull mess if the car ends up on the roof
