Default rear 4x6 speaker

i ordered some grill retainters from porsche for the back and front speakers. i replaced the fronts already and the grill retainer was cracking. to make along story short i finally got around to doing the rears and the grill retainer for the rears are a part of the speakers , but when i ordered it thru pet i got this seperate piece and i figured it worked out perfect because now i can place some 4x6 in the rear and the factory grills will fit with no modifications. the hole are the same. look at pictures below. the part numbers are 944 555 159 00

It's too bad that the 964 Cabriolets don't have the 4x6 rear speakers. The previous owner recently replaced all the speakers in my car....but it still sounds like crap.

I'll probably end up putting portable subs in the rear like a few other Rennlisters have...

Infinity 4x6 speakers are a perfect fit. I just 'Dremelled' the old tweeter/woofer out to leave the frame so I could re-use the standard grilles. Marc Shaw's write up here

Default jbl install

these speakers cost 69.99 and sound good just driven by the head unit alone. 40watts rms and 120 watt peak. 4 ohm. no cutting. had to only gently pry glued trim ring partial off and use some waxed dental floss i slid under and pulled gently to remove remainder of ring. the surround will try to lift up where you first try to pry off but once you get the dental floss under and pull it comes off easy. the glue they use to secure surround is clear and non drying, you flip the ring to the other non gled side and gently push down to reseal surround. real easy. no cutting whatsoever whas done to make these fit.

Tx Dutch for the photo series, I had just about forgotten to change my rears but the idea is now surfacing again.

The photos and info explain everything - most excellent.. This problem is one I've heard from a few others.

if any of your components (head unit/amp) are stock and you want decent sound they will have to replaced....decent amp/good speakers like bostons/infinity (in size to fit the car, including shallow mounts for the rear) will likely produce sound to your needs without subwoofers.

Quick Reply: rear 4x6 speaker
