Question Oil Pressure Relief Valves

Dumb queston time, once more. The 964 has 2 pressure relief valves, one on the bottom center of the block, and the side.Which one is for the bearing circuit, and which one is for the the whole system.I've looked at diagrams, but am still lost.

The one on the bottom of the motor is the primary pressure relief valve. The one on the side is the secondary pressure relief which opens at a higher pressure than the primary--some describe it as a backup in the event the primary fails.

Both of the relief valves operate on the same oil circuit. The secondary (backup) is located right at the oil pump pressure output and dumps into the crankcase.
