$70/hr is very reasonable for a Porsche shop since most dealers are at $90. $1600 is what the Porsche dealer shop manual quotes for a 60k mile tune up including valves. You should do a little better than that in a small Porsche shop. But for everything you already have invested in your 964 to date to make it top shelf, have professionals do it unless you have upper DIY skills and tools like some of the guys do. Those skills come with a lot of time and pain. Your first priority is not the $1600 but finding a good Porsche shop.

O2 sensor was $120 from Vertex Auto, and I installed. Took about an hour total, including the time to cut the rubber grommet so I could fit wires in the right spots.

$90? My Porsche dealer goes for $135! For little stuff I go with the local mechanic (oil change up to 9 quarts, tranny oil etc) But for engine stuff I go back to someone who knows Pcars.
