Default Bilstein HD, H&R Springs, bumpstop question

In searching for an answer to my question I ran accross this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=35947

The last post in this thread says: "When I did this installation I called the vendor and confirmed on the internet that Bilsteins (at least in this application) have internal bump stops and do not need the stock stops"

Can anyone confirm this statement? What did you do when installing this combo (Bilstein HD/green HR springs)?

When I did the front springs shocks the bump stops did not look like they would fit properly even if trimmed 3/4" as the H&R spring note said. I assumed this note was referring to H&R springs with stock Boge struts.

I think when we did the H&R/HD on Jeremys car we left the bump stops off. On my Intrax/M030 setup I put them on.

Don't have a 964, but hopefully you won't mind me responding. When I put HD Bilsteins on my 924, I did not install the bump stops. The Bilstein package for each front shock actually had a small piece of paper with info on it, it stated that the shocks had internal bump stops and no external ones were requried. No bump stops required on the rear of a 924 as there are snubbers on the trailing arms.

I recently installed Bilstein HD's with Eibach springs. I called Bilstein and they (tech support) confirmed the struts have internal bump stops. I finished my install with no external bump stops up front. I left the rears on there's plenty of room for them back there.

OK, great. Just what I was hoping to hear and exactly what I did. Fronts, none, rear, put stock bumpstops back on.

Sheesh, those upper rear nuts are a bugger to get to, even with all of the possible extensions, universal head sockets, wratchet head wrenches, etc. No easy way around it.

Almost done...

As always, thanks for the quick and helpful responses!

Yes and they should be torqued too!

Now that is just silly. There is no way to get a torque wrench on those with any accuracy!

Unless....no, please don't tell me there is a special Porsche get-into-impossible-places-that-no-man-was-ever-intended-to-go-with-a-wrench, torque wrench!?

Some of the original nuts on the 2 cars we did came off like they were hand tight while others took a breaker bar. Doesnt seem Hans used any special tool putting them on at the factory.

This seems to be the wave of the present and future; H&R/bilstein combo. See what you started Jim?

They actually torque pretty easily when you have the engine dropped. I found this out only after dropping the engine, about 6 months after I put the new setup in. If I only had a crystal ball.

Sounds like a good reason to drop the engine; thanks Colin.
