Has anyone ever calculated how many 964s are out there in the world running today? I'm trying to figure out just how exclusive this car really is.

around 67,000 production models and about 1500 specials made between 89 and 94.. Figure maybe 30 % were trashed or run into the ground, and 20% totaled in crashes. Don't think you'll ever find out the exact number. If you want an exclusive model, find a 92 Turbo S2, only 20 were made.

Slightly off topic:
I read somewhere a few years ago that Porsche had the highest percentage of cars ever made by a company still on the road....it may have even been a Porsche advertisement. My personal guess is that the 924 has the worst % of cars originally produced still on the road (to me, some beater 356's were probably saved since the aircooled motor is realitively easy to swap out and many people regarded them as "true porsches worth saving", thus even through the 356 is the oldest major model, I think the % would be higher then the 924s.. and high as a percentage relative to the 40+ year age of the cars), and I'd say the 911 has the highest % of cars originally produced by Porsche on the road. All of this is just me giving my opinon out loud![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I have no idea what % of 964's produced are still operable, but I'd venture a guess that it's higher than 50%, and closer to 75%....again, I have nothing to back up that opinion.
Thanks for the production #s stuart- can definitely notice the decreased production of the cabs in '93 and '94, which jives with the market that I found when I was looking for my car. Don- the total seems to be less than 67,000 total...were you including some of the 993's in that number? Is the list Stuart posted accurate?
This is an interesting thread!

The numbers made before the 3.2 were very small - it really was the 3.2 that took the company forward approx 40,000 - as compared to total single figure thousands for the previous 911 models.
If 'last toys' suggestion of 50% of all 964 trashed etc it would give a total of approx 18,000 cars on the road - not many
911 before the 3.2 will become increasingly rare
any one want a '74 Sporto ? - very reliable - 'onest Guv !!

Porsche recorded something like 1400 less than they actually delivered. This was confirmed by a physical VIN check.

I have always wondered this. There will be USA & ROW, with production #s split between them. Where does Canada sit on this? Are we part of the USA #s or the ROW #s?
I dont think we get the ROW items like side marker lights, etc?
