May also be someone has hijacked the ebay account. I had similar on a recent auction for wheels. I was not high bidder, but got a "second chance" email, supposedly because winner fell through. Turns out if actually went to the high bidder and the extra email, etc was just from somebody else.....
Don't send any kind of payment, just report to Ebay fraud folks...
