You can move the switches from #1 to #2 by moven the wires from one to the other .
They are switches to me cause they are transistors . Transistors are elec switches .

it's a bizzare set of out-comes.

why will the engine run on the secondary coil when fed to either dist but only run with the primary fed to the secondary dist? it's like the drivers in the ECU can't handle running two coils at once and can't handle the primary fed to the primary dist for some reason

i might have F...ed up the drivers in the ECU when i originally disconnected the high tension lead from the primary dist.

you don't have a spare ECU do you?

I only have the one in the car , 89 C4 .
I bet a beer that its not the ecu .
I need to redo the brakes on my van , then head up to the north side of the bay , I could stop by and have a look see at your car in a day or two .
