Default H5's to HID kit, looks good..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8028904246

They come from VertexAuto, a Rennlist Sponsor and not some EBay guy in a van somewhere. My guess is they will work as advertised, and for $300 it's a pretty darn good deal! Problem is you only get one beam.. To get both High/low you still have to convert H5's to H4's, THEN put a Xenon conversion kit in.. (Thanks for the update Marc)

Gary,

You could always convert H5's directly to HID's (that is not new) - the only reason to convert to H4's first is that way you get both high and low beam (not possible with any H5-HID kits).

Thanks for the link though.

H4's are standard on European cars.

Easiest way to tell for sure is to look at the glass lens - H5's have three glass nubs on the front to fit into the headlight aiming machines, mandated by US DOT. In addition, on H4's the aiming screws are hidden under the trim ring - H5's have little caps around the light trim that hide the aiming screws.

Always wondered what those nubs were for.

Thanks Marc, as I read into it I realized that. I have a set of H4's from my 78 SC so I suppose I could swap them out and do the conversion, not sure yet if I need my lights in place for the PCA Club Race class (G) I want to stay legal for..

Good info! If one were to be ok not having high beems when doing the HID conversion on their H5's, which brand/outfit has been proven? Lets hear from those whom have done it along with impressions and after thoughts. I bet there are many of us on the fence waiting to jump one way or the other.
