What colour is the car on the right? Don't recall seeing that one before.

Enjoyed a great morning out with the kids and the Porsche club.

Where's Waldo? Or in this case, Lena.

You keep bashing the 964 yet if you tried to overcome you obsession to slam the thing and put proper rims and tires on it you might actually see what the rest of us appreciate in these cars. I find it funny that you seem to suddenly love the 993 and think that it will perform better if you do the same thing to it.

Just saying.

I wouldn't say I bash the 964, I just see it for what it is... an old air-cooled Porsche with nearly the same electronics as a MK2 VW GTI. I don't understand the hype behind it, it's not a particularly impressive car to drive; it never was. I still love the car none-the-less, and if I couldn't "slam it and put rims on it", I wouldn't bother to own the car... it's simply a beautiful car and I had a vision for one long before I bought one. I've always wanted a 993, I was just lucky enough to have a 964 fall into my lap. In my mind they're nearly one in the same, with aesthetic differences.

The Rabbit is just a completely different animal to drive now that I swapped a 2.8 VR6 into it... it's REAL fun. The Porsche is a special car, I just don't think it's special in the way you do, and I don't expect you to understand that.

I guess that is where we differ in opinion. The fact that you say a 911 is not an impressive car to drive says a lot. I have had the opportunity to drive some very impressive cars over the years. Every variant of Porsche made minus a CGT and 918 cars new and old cars from your VW GTI to BMW M1's, CSL's, 512, 288GTO, F40, F50, Countachs, Muras, Jags, Lotus, Mclaren and a list that would go on for a page. All interesting rides some I loved others I hated but I settled on a 964 because it offers a combination of fun and impresses me more in a way that no other car has been able to do. It is a combination of ticking off so many boxes that most cars can't do they are either fantastic one way or another but can't fill all the blanks like these 911's can for me. I think the steady increase in market value is recognition of this as well.

So what does having modern electronics have to do with a true sports car anyhow? That is the beauty of these cars you are unplugged and I don't even have a stereo in my C2. Although there are a few modern cars I would consider it is still a close call because what you gain by modern features you loose in connection to the road and interaction with the car. Putting a MKII VW GTI in the same league as a 964 IMO is well not even worth the comparison. No dig on the GTI it was a fun car for what it was heck so was the Scirroco but it could not hold a candle to these cars IMO.

If you base your judgment of how much fun a 964 is how you have yours setup I would agree I would want out as well. These cars are not designed for what you want them to do. One thing I have learned from driving these cars for over 30 years is they are either properly setup and handle like a dream and a blast to drive or they are poorly setup and drive like crap......
