I still love the car none-the-less, and if I couldn't "slam it and put rims on it", I wouldn't bother to own the car... it's simply a beautiful car and I had a vision for one long before I bought one. I've always wanted a 993, I was just lucky enough to have a 964 fall into my lap. In my mind they're nearly one in the same, with aesthetic differences.

The Rabbit is just a completely different animal to drive now that I swapped a 2.8 VR6 into it... it's REAL fun. The Porsche is a special car, I just don't think it's special in the way you do, and I don't expect you to understand that.
As a younger member of this forum, one that started out in places like NASIOC and Audizine, I fell in in love with he pcar community because trolls like this didn't exist a few years ago when I arrived. My oh my what a few years and one horrible fad can change. To each his own.... I guess.

Gorgeous color and a fine car, my family had a MK1 GTI and I loved everything about it. LOL at all the pine air fresheners in both cars.

Every variant of Porsche made minus a CGT and 918 cars new and old cars from your VW GTI to BMW M1's, CSL's, 512, 288GTO, F40, F50, Countachs, Muras, Jags, Lotus, Mclaren and a list that would go on for a page. All interesting rides some I loved others I hated but I settled on a 964 because it offers a combination of fun and impresses me more in a way that no other car has been able to do. It is a combination of ticking off so many boxes that most cars can't do they are either fantastic one way or another but can't fill all the blanks like these 911's can for me. I think the steady increase in market value is recognition of this as well.

So what does having modern electronics have to do with a true sports car anyhow? That is the beauty of these cars you are unplugged and I don't even have a stereo in my C2. Although there are a few modern cars I would consider it is still a close call because what you gain by modern features you loose in connection to the road and interaction with the car. Putting a MKII VW GTI in the same league as a 964 IMO is well not even worth the comparison. No dig on the GTI it was a fun car for what it was heck so was the Scirroco but it could not hold a candle to these cars IMO.

If you base your judgment of how much fun a 964 is how you have yours setup I would agree I would want out as well. These cars are not designed for what you want them to do. One thing I have learned from driving these cars for over 30 years is they are either properly setup and handle like a dream and a blast to drive or they are poorly setup and drive like crap......

I don't think you're being a troll... perhaps I missed something. As far as I'm aware you've always been helpful here. Most of the slammed guys just post pics (highest post count is usually defending themselves with colourful language) where as you've helped with wheel calculations and actually posted as to how you technically fitted those wheels.

Despite the fact I don't get slammed cars and the scene, I totally respect the way you write here, what you've done and your cool temperament.

I do however think Anthony has a point. A 964 is a real drivers car when 'correctly' setup. I would love for you to join the L9O on a Alpine Tour to really experience just how insanely capable these cars are. In fact that's an open invitation... if you're ever in the UK drop us a line.

993s famously have a multi link suspension. Having driven a few and spent time with owners of both I would say the 964 offers a more raw, traditional 911 feel. One always hears how they're the last of the frog eyes and yet modern, but in fact what makes them a jewel to me is that they are the only 911 with coil suspension and a non multi link rear...

Fundamentally though, cars get used in different ways. Some of the L9O prefer a gentle cruise and some prefer beating the living daylights out of them. If you're happy with your use why change. However I promise you there is a whole other world to theses cars you may have just missed with your setup and use...

PS. Congrats on the rabbit. I own a VR6 on now decent suspension (boy it handled like a dog factory) an it's great fun.

The troll accusation was based on farkas' implication that he hasn't had "REAL" fun in the 964, but has in the VW, when we all know he has enough knowledge of suspension setups to understand that in order to have "REAL" fun in a 911, it needs to be set up "correctly." I agree his car probably isn't capable of "REAL" fun, and I think he knows that also. Anyway, no offense intended. Sorry for derailing the thread.

Here's a shot a took on a recent trip to the Motherland. Real RS in GR, M491 cab, and lots of others in the background.
