Default REAR LENS ASSEMBLY Reverse light

Does anyone know where I can purchase the entire rear lens assembly.

Specifically the unt that is between the Brake Lights.

Mine has many cracks etc from age,, I am considering repainting etc but would like to see if the assembly is available.

Tks

Bob

There's one in your city listed on eBay...(he has it labelled wrong...that is definitely for a 964)

He wants $375...which is a little steep. I'm assuming it's new? I just bought a used one for $150. They tend to sell between $125-$225 depending on condition.

Good luck!

In all honesty.....I don't think you'd want mine....the crack was bugging me so much that I decided to replace the lens. But if you wish, I can certainly take a picture. My girlfriend took my camera...and she's out of town over the Christmas week. I'll post a pic when she comes back.

Your best bet is to keep an eye on eBay....I've seen about 5 of them listed since September....and like I said, they seem to sell between $125 to $225.

Was that new? You got a pretty good deal if it is....I've seen them listed as high as $600 new...

I hear the depth of color on the new lenses is a tad disappointing. i.e. it still has a pinkish look to it. I recommend buying a use and repainting (easy and v. satisfying DIY)

Np. If I can do it with limited experience (to say nothing of a syndrome) and get perfect results...then anyone can!

BTW, mine STILL look so much better and have not begun to fade at all.

Retail is only $400.50USD so they are probably still available for around $250 or less brand new. And if you end up buying new lenses you still might want to clear-coat them with something UV resistant to prevent the fade-to-pink that will happen a year after you install them.

Awesome kahdmus, thanks for the link to the thread.

BTW, I suppose wax would help with the UV protection... most waxes contain UV inhibitors. It's one of the main reasons for their existence!

Thanks Everyone for the input:

I will try the repainting for the Fade but mine also have cracks in them from age so we will see how they turn out.

I picked up some Testors Candy Apple Red Trasnparent from the local art shop and it looks like the color is right.

Thanks for the links as they seem to detail what needs to be done.

Bob
