Default Trailing arms.....non turbo. Can somebody help me with this:

I'm on a quest to get my rear trailing arms changed to NA trailing arms (my car has the turbo wide arms). Anybody know if a 1991 C4 trailing arms are narrow compared to the turbo arms? Not sure if the C4 had wide arms like the narrow body C2.....anybody?

The C2 and C4 use the same trailing arms. When you swap them out you might also need a different ABS wheel speed sensor than what you are probably running on the turbo/turbo look arms.

Thanks Jason. These particular arms have part # 964.331.514.9R (one of the arms).

Can anybody cross reference these number on a PET or somewhere before I commit to the seller? I plan on exchanging my turbo arms for the NA arms to get more wheel/tire inside the rear fender. As you may know, Turbo body cars have wide arms which limit deep dish wheels (rub on the arms apparantly).

thanks guys!

From the PET I see:

964 331 021 00 guiding arm carrera 2/4 and rs america with a remark of /L; not sure what that means

964 331 022 00 guiding arm carrera 2/4 rs america w/ remark of /R

must be right and left hand sides

Cheers,
Dave

I don't know and I can't find a reference to any 964 331 514 numbers. I looked in the 1991 section of the PET and then searched in the pdf version that's recently become available for free.

Ok, Geoffrey was very helpful too. He has indicated that perhapse it may be an early model number, superceded by newer numbers. Also, apparently early 964's had two piston brakes, as apposed to 4 piston brakes of newer models. What year were 964's built with 4 piston brakes??

Anybody?

thank again, Jaime

The C4's all had 4 piston brakes and that the C2's are the ones that changed along the way. See this

excellent guys! You Rock!

Oh, one more thing....Is it safe and correct to say that NA C-4's had the same 4 piston calipers as the 964 turbo look up till 1994, and the turbo versions 965?

thanks, Jaime

That is part of the casting number (any number ending R on a part), not the part number. (see image below)

Hi Jason. Thank you for the visual aid. Where can the part number be located? I see even on your photo the part number is not there......or am I missing it??

I've looked over, under and around both rear control arms. The only numbers I could find are the ones in the picture posted above (and none of which are the part number).
