Default Any 964 owners with rear wiper

I am considering adding a rear wiper to my 1992 C2. Anyone know where the wiring harness and connector are? Under the back shelf are connectors for rear defogger, rear brake light, sunroof, and interior door lights. I could not find the harness/connector for rear wiper. thanks

The harness connector is under the back shelf cause I removed mine from there! Was it a factory delete? IMHO leave the damn thing off!

Steve, I have one on my 1991 C2. If you want to drop by we can take a look.

Exclamation Rear Wipers can break

Just remember my war story. If you use a car cover, take the cover off from the rear and put it on from the rear. Because if you take it from the front and are not careful, like moi!, the car cover will catch on the rear wiper and break the little arm - they are fragile trust me. $A 300 to replace. If it were me, I wouldn't have one but as I had one I took the odds to replacing it. Hardly use it anyway given I have a targa which I prefer to drive roof off. That has something of course to do with the fact I live in drought ravaged country , which apparently due to global warming seems to be getting more severe and larger hail storms than rain, and ..., well that's another story.

Marc,

Sounds like you can get 5 pounds back... at least its all from the rear.

I've been thinking about doing this, too... just because it blocks my vision.

Hi Marc,
I'll guess and say it only is about 4 lbs it is a tiny aluminum motor.

Any of you guys do this, be sure to remove the wiring harness from the motor to the pax side panel connection T10 and the mounting bracket. The motor and all can not be used without it. If I can't find the harness I may look to one of you.

I was replacing the blade on my rear wiper this evening when, with a tired little click, the main arm fell in half! Looking at the ends of the fracture I can see that it had been bent and straightened, probably a few times, and was hanging on by a thread. Having removed the external pieces, I will see if I can obtain a used arm from a breaker's yard around here at a reasonable price. If not, I am not averse to removing the whole assembly, as in the p-car.com DIY -- it does look much tidier, and, as other have remarked, it is a rather redundant appendage in Southern California.

Well I have a rear wiper, and living in London where drizzly wet winter mornings are the norm, and I have to reverse out of my street because it's a narrow cul-de-sac, I wouldn't want to be without it!

Cheers

I just called Parts Heaven. They don't have used rear wiper arms because they all break, but did offer to send a new one for $170. Ouch! Looks like I'm going to be assembling one of those 944 window plugs for my about-to-be-deleted wiper option.

The rear window wiper on my car is now deleted. I picked up a 944 rear glass plug assembly for $5 from my local favorite breaker yard and now enjoy the new, uncluttered rear view (except for that ugly CHMSL -- I feel another project coming on!)
If anyone wants a rear wiper assembly, complete except for the wiper arm and grommet for the glass, for the cost of shipping it, please PM me.
