I have been downloading a couple 0f '89/90 top gear shows..some contrast to the current programme

Its interesting to see what else was available new 15 years ago. They were testing the Saab 9000, Mazda 323, some faceless Honda/Rover. They all look like used cars.. If a 964 is fab in 2005, it must have been stellar in 1990.

But did they test it? The programm seemed to be mainly dull comparisons of everyday affordable stuff..Chris Goffey comparing door pocket space zzz. I know they tested 993 C2/C4 back to back later in the 90's - Tiff Needell couldn't tell the difference, finally separated them by driving the C4 up a grassy slope..

aaarrggghhh!

I had these on video for years -

they tested a silver C4 - IIRC the musical accompaniment was Hawkwind's 'Silver Machine'

and also a 965 in mint green - I remember them testing it 0-60-0 and making noises about the fat brakes....

I'll see if I can dig them out as I'm up there at xmas - if anyone can source them online they would be a proper hero!

doh - just realised that the link that Andy points to is the one for the mint green 965

They were reviewed on the same show so if anyone can get that info the C4 review should be there too...

If you can work out the episode number, http://www.mininova.com has most of the '89/'90 series, should you wish to make your own personal decision to 'share' these files.

it was more like 1993 that the show aired. I have it on video too. it features a mint green 3.6 965 turbo. Which dates the show as 93 or late 92 i think ? It also features 964 celebration models tiptronic and c4 from memory. And a bit about yuppies !!!!!
