Finally found the one: new pcar owner!
I am about as excited as a 5 year old on xmas morning. Today I found the one. After many searches, and RL'ers helping me out all over driving cars in different states, I found one down the road (thanks again everyone BTW)
I was hoping this one would be good when I saw the ad, so I went down to a local Porsche specific consignment/specialist and took a look. When I first saw it I just about crapped myself. It was stunning compared to all the others I had seen and driven in person.
1989 c4
67k miles
all service records since 2000 miles (big stack)
stunning pebble-grey color
linen interior w/ piping in perfect condition
d90's, and flags, but oh well
head gasket fixes, dual distributer vent, many 'fixes'.
new clutch and gearbox 5k ago.
$25k
So I drove it, just perfect power, perfect idle, perfect, perfect. So it's mine now. Two ladies owned it before me. This car is clean. I was not specifically targeting a C4, I would have actually preferred a C2, but after reading Adrians book, and www.porsche964.co.uk I felt like it was good to consider them, and that it would be just fine for the track, my interest, and my skill level. I will be making suspension changes anyways, so it will be a good time to dial-out the understeer.
Anyways, thought I would share. Now I need some suspension work, and some other prep for the track. I will keep all the orig stuff just in case I ever sell it. I have 5k left in my budget for that stuff.
BTW: my garage smells different now! ;-)

Congrats Kgor!! If I were you I would run her at least once on the track to see how she acts before changing things. That way if/when you do something (assuming stiffening the rear, lowering, 17-18" wider wheels, new bilsteins) you can appreciate the difference. That was a GREAT find for $25K IMO, look forward to hearing/seeing your exploits in her!
What do you have for tires now? Is the engine pan still on?
