Post Parts Price Surprise!

When looking in the front trunk, sniffing out gas odor sources, I noticed the maybe 1 1/2 foot section of hose connecting upper gas intake to the upper tank looked age-cracked all around, and should be replaced. I darn near fell over when I found out the Porsche list price is $65, and even after discount, is $51! It's part #6 below:

I'll have to take it off and look at it to determine a suitable substitute.

When poking around, I did notice some noxious odors coming from the shutoff valve region (sits behind the expansion tank), so I'll have to look at that further.

Bill, when I purchased my C4 used from an independent auto dealer, he mentioned that they had removed the engine tray and that it wasn't needed. Adrian says otherwise as it does rain in the Pacific Northwest. When I priced a new one, it was just over $1,000! It's a friggin' piece of plastic that's nearly flat! I asked the Porsche dealer why it was so expensive and he said, "It's a Porsche, they are expensive." Using that logic, it would cost an easy million dollars to build my car by buying OEM parts. **heavy sigh**

Henry Ford said he'd gladly give his cars away for free if he could be the sole source for all replacement parts.

Bill, try www.bmaautoparts.com They had excellent prices on parts I've needed. Can't hurt to ask.
