LUK DMF Failures? Anyone?
Searched, but could not find ANY posts about failed LUK DMF's (OEM 964-114-012-02). Wondering who has the record for most mileage with these babies.

I'll hijack the thread!
Along the same lines, if I install a new clutch, do I have to install a new flywheel? The conventional wisdom says do not resurface this flywheel. Does that mean just bolt on the new clutch?
I already have the LUK flywheel.

The LUK flywheel is the replacement for the problematic Freudenberg flywheel (mine died at 30K, which isn't uncommon ). LUKs will eventually fail too, but I've only heard of it happening once so far.

I had my clutch replaced at about 75,000 miles. My mechanic said the flywheel also needed to be replaced. He was surprised, saying that he has seen more failed flywheels on 993s than later model 964s. That is the first (and only) time I've heard of any kind of problem with the later flywheels.
