do you have solid motor mounts? - what's it like?
Hi Guys, any of you running solid motor mounts?
Did you "uprate" the transmission mount, too?
If so, is the vibration unbearable, or not really much different? I don't want to make my car undriveable for long distances, even short ones when I'm not racing...
Any input is appreciated!

Garret,
I installed RS mounts when the hydraulic ones failed in my C4, the only real difference I noticed was a little more rocking at idle and the sound of the AC compressor was more noticeable other than that they were like standard.

I'm happy with my RS-mounts. The tranny is still stock. I can't see any downsides and the drivetrain doesen't flex as much as before. The gear shifting on track is better. And they are lighter!

They have made semi solidmounts for the 964 as well as the ones they make for the 911. I am considering installing these on my '90 964.

I have the solid Carrera Cup motor mounts (not RS) and the car is still nice to drive. Don't replace the transmission mount with a solid one if you are going to drive your car on the street. The gearbox raddle noise will drive you nuts, especially if you have a lightweight flywheel installed. At idle it sounds like something is going to fall appart and at high rpm is sounds like you have an F1 gearbox :-) Rather replace the transmission mount with a stronger rubber mount.

Thanks Martin - that's the info I was curious about!
I've decided to get the WEVO type which are supposed to be stiffer than the RS mounts, but still not a metal-to-metal contact to provide good stiffness but not the vibration. We'll see
