Will 996 rims fit my 93 RS America??
I currently run the following rims: front 7J17 55mm offset and rear 8J17 52 mm offset.
Although the 996 or Boxter front rims are the same (7J17 55mm), will 996 or Boxter rear rims (9J17 55mm offset) fit my car? Will I need spacers, and if so, what sise? If so, what size tires should I run?
Thanks in advance, Adam.

Yes, those wheels should fit your RS America fine. In fact, Porsche did offer am original 9" x 17" "Cup" wheel for the 964 as well:
965.362.128.00 - 9" x 17" ET55
965.362.128.00 - 9" x 17" ET55

I have a set of Boxster rims (7" front, 8.5" rear) that fit my narrow bodied C2 perfectly!
Personally, I feel more comfortable with the 8.5" rims in the back rather than the 9", since I have more clearance between the wheel and the oil lines. OTOH, many people run 9" rims on their cars with no problems at all. Just check the clearance -- better safe than sorry.
Good luck!

high,
I am currentlly running the "cup" rims Viken has mentioned, 9"x17" ET55 with the same part number on the rear of my '91 and they fit on no problem, theres even a little room for spacers if you wanted too, I dont use em.

I am running a set of 17" factory cup wheels for the track. 7's and 9's. Double check the rear fenders, many of the 93's (including mine) came with factory rolled rear fenders which will give you an extra bit of clearance in the rear. Go check out the RS America Web page and register while you're at it. (if you haven't already...)rsamerica.net

Thanks for all the responses. I picked up the car last night and to my chagrin, the car runs on factory 996 rims (front 7J17 55mm offset and rear 9J17 55 mm offset). As J richard noted, my car also is an early 93 RS America (#50) and has the factory rear fender rolled.
Just in case anyone else is looking for data points, one set of rims carries 245/45R17 and 275/40R17 Hoosiers and the other set has 235/40ZR17 and 275/40R17 G-Force tires.
Thanks again, Adam.
