Post Big problem or Small problem?

Hey guys,
Well anwayze, I was doing the Service for the car; change oil, plugs, wires, valve adjustment, BUT, the mechanic told me that one of my HEAD STUD bolts broke off and was sitting in the valve cover. He showed me that the head stud was broken and where it was in the engine (the head and some of the shaft of the head stud, was broken off and theirs some of the shaft still in the block ). The head stud is broken off in the frontal area by the fan on the right corner by the muffler.

My question is, will those pose as a problem when I turbocharge or supercharge my porsche? I havent had any problems with it yet for about 1 year, no oil leaks nothing.

Lastly, what are your opinions on turbo or supercharging or should I just get the BPU (basic performance upgrades). ? Thanks for all the HELP, just wanted to do some Research before I do anything thanks!!

Personally Chris i would fix that head stud before any performance upgrades. You may have got away with it for a year but it's going to cause a problem sometime.
I sure others here will spell it out in greater detail.

Richard.

FWIW, I wouldn't turbo/supercharge an engine which wasn't designed for it. I'd either sell the existing engine and buy a Turbo engine, or rebuild the existing engine from the ground up into a configuration that could handle the stresses introduced by a turbo/supercharger. An option, as you mention, are the BPU's. The normally aspirated Carrera RSR 3.8, for example, was no slouch with 325hp.

Chris;

As posted you need to have the broken stud replaced sooner than later. The risk is warping the head/liner. Regardless, with the CA heat waiting till summer will most likely increase your parts and machine shop costs. Like Bill has stated it would be dollars ahead to just buy a turbocharged engine, and do a transplant. In the event of selling your car you will be dollars ahead.
