Default Bumperette or clears?

I just put on a set of clears and (along with Slappy) kind of like the way the black bumperette seperates the driving light from the side lights. WHat do you think? I have the clear replacement lenses, just don't think I want to install them..

The drag and air turbulence alone should be worth 10hp I would say, GO CLEAR... imho of course. At the end of the day it is what YOU like and the heck with everyone else

Between the 30HP boost I get with Zaino and the Cup Airbox I would need Big Reds if I go all clear!

I'll be happy to take the clear bumperette replacement units off your hands if you don't need them! Can you tell me where you sourced them? I'm trying to convert my car to the european look!

Thanks! Fred C.

Am I correct that the Euro 964s came with fogs, the little clear bumperette replacements, and amber turn signals and sides? In other words, was the only difference those dorky little bumperettes? That seems to be what PET implies... And does anyone know what #52 is? It looks like a tidier version of the foglight...

I'd say the best way to "hang onto them" is to install them. I debated the same thing, but seeing your picture, I'm glad I went clear all the way.

just my .01- not even .02 worth.

#51 and #52 are the dummy foglight which were factory to the Euro Carrera RS and Carrera Cup Cars. If you know where I can find these let me know. The last I found were around 200 euros for a clear piece of plastic.

Thanks for the info. They'd really tidy up an awkward collection of odd bits of plastic, but the price seems a bit steep . And in Canada, at least, the fogs are the daytime running lights, so they'd need to be functional. Oh well.

I've always hated the bumperettes and replaced mine quickly but they don't look too bad with the clears. I don't know that I've ever seen a car with clears and bumperettes. Usually when people replace the clears, the bumperettes go too.
Anyway, remember that when the bumperettes go, the Dremel comes out and they're gone forever!

IMO the clear bumperette replacements make more of a visual improvement than the clear indicator replacements. The 964 is so beautifully smoothed and contoured that the black bumperettes detract horribly! I think people are put off by the extra work involved and the need to cut the studs that hold the black rubber ones on. But go ahead...you'll be so glad you did!!

To settle it (for myself) I just may pop them on, I have already figured out an easy way to reinstall the bumperettes should I decide to.. I'll post side-by side pics if I do it.

If you could share this, it'd be great. One of the reasons I've not done this yet is the "no going back now" nature of the change...

Darryl,
I was able to remove my driver's (left) side bumperette mounting piece by simply pulling the plastic bumper slightly and wiggling it out (i was in a hurry so I cut the other side). Its a little more work but you could loosen the bumper bolts, all you need is about an 1/8" extra space to easily remove the mounting pieces. In any case, cutting the mounting pieces does not have to be a permanent solution as they are sold separately by PCNA #964-505-085-00.
