Post H&R "Supersport" setup

Any one familar with an H&R "Supersport" setup from Turbo Performance Center? They are quoting $2900.

I'm trying to decide if its worth the added expense over just H&R springs and Bilsteins.

TIA.

I've got it on my '90 & really like it. It's nice to have the adjustable spring perches for track set up & corner balancing.

I know my stock Boge's do on my '90, and I thought the Bilstein site said their HD's did as well.

I have a set of H&R springs sitting on the garage floor, and I am debating if I want to do the shocks as well.

The high dolalr coil over set-ups (triple the price of the HD/H&R combo) are beyong my needs and my budget, but for a streetable car that sees autocross and maybe some DE duty, I expect that the Bilstein HDs and the H&Rs ought to do the trick.

Be aware that the high priced H&R cup setup may not fit all 964's. One 964 owner on the board installed it, ran into fitment problems, and didn't get good support from H&R. The owner was able to make it work, but wasn't happy with H&R's answer of "send it back for credit if you don't like it".

I'm the one Bill is referring to that bought the H&R Supercup kit. I installed the kit in a 1992 964 coupe. The kit has well chosen spring and shock rates and is well made but that's it. The monobal upper mounts are not well designed front or rear. The front mount probably works great on a 964 Turbo or 993, but allows no more negative camber than stock 964 parts on a narrow bodied car. Also, the adjustment slots are not covered and the mount therefore leaks water into the trunk. The rear mounts would not fit at all in the shock towers.

My solution was to completly redesign the front mount, fabricating a new mounting plate and making it fixed in adjustment. The rear mounts required extensive machining of diameter and thickness to get them to fit. One of those things I bought on appearance without talking to anyone who had installed it.

What I'm looking at is not (I don't think) the supercup kit, but what TPC calls "super sport" supposedly developed with H&R to be adjustable but roadable (don't believe it has monoballs for example).

I'll probably just save the $1500 and go with new shocks and springs, but not the "super sport" kit.

Carl,
Yeah, mine is the Super Sport kit. Streetable spring rates & no monoballs. I was running -2.25 degrees up front & -2.00 in the back when I was tracking it. It's a nice compromise set up for a street/track car. My real Supercup will shake your fillings out on anything but smooth surfaces.

What you have to remember with 964 Turbo front struts is that they are mounted 180 degrees to the standard 964. The mounts are actually different as are the fittings on the struts. I have seen the competition 964 turbo systems and I know they do not just bolt into a 964. You have to do what Cupcar did to make things fit. The racing systems are really for serious racing people. Install on road car to drive to and from the track.
What I find interesting is that in the USA these H&R Cup and Supersports systems are available for sale. Here in Europe they are not because they are not approved for the 964. H&R only sell a Cup suspension for a 996 here. They sell cups for other brands but not Porsche. Even the 996 system requires a special order.
Ciao,
Adrian
