I looked on Ebay for a month and found a G pipe for under $100. They're out there, you just need to be patient

is the general consensus still that the G-pipe is a better improvement-per-cost modification when compared to the primary bypass? Since I live in California I don't want to bypass my catalytic converter....

Thanks

I've got a secondary bypass with oem primary. I love the sound, but the general consensus I keep hearing here on rennlist is that the primary bypass has more power with a little better sound (but not as deep of a rumble as the secondary bypass). The secondary bypass has much better sound but no real power gains. But I've never heard the two side by side to compare in terms of sound, nor have I seen any actual dyno data to compare them. I'm actually thinking about swapping to a primary bypass instead of a secondary to see which I like better.

Is a g-pipe, with stock main muffler and catalytic converters kept in place too loud for a cabriolet?

Most of you seem to have coupes, but that could also be since the coupe is the preferred track car, where many mods are common...

I'm looking for sound- not more speed (doesn't seem you get much if any more power anyway w/G-pipe)

I have a G-Pipe fitted and at times it is too loud but does sound good at WOT. One issue I have is the inherent sound of a pancake engine. It can sound too much like a WRX. A little too much resonnce at about 80mph cruise. On the up side the throttle response is improved and general driveability improved as well. I am dying for dual tailpipes so I plan on fabbing my own setup. I refuse to pay outrageous prices for the dual outlet mufflers out there. Some of those units don't actually work properly anyway and I can do it myself for less than half of what is available ou there.

Some countries (? which) did not require a CAT and these cars were built with option code M150 where a muffler, part number 964.111.042.05, replaces the CAT.

I installed a primary muffler bypass today listed as on *bay as
Porsche 964 C2 C4 RSA Muffler Bypass Pipe for $175. not overly impressed with the pipe
but it did fit and sounds good. Anyone know if the db level with stock cat, primary bypass, stock 2ed, would be under the 92 db imit limerock park has. i think it should be ok
compared to other cars i have seen there.

From what I understand getting rid of both mufflers is very loud. It seems to be more acceptable to do 1 muffler bypass and a cat bypass. Hopefully someone with actual db measurements will chime in.

Jim_I,

The pipe you bought looks a lot like the Schnell Elite I just purchased. Sounds like you got a better deal though! I also purchased new exhaust gaskets, which look like steel rings, but I think I'll just reuse the old ones, which look fine.
