What broke during ownership?

Burning Brakes
I've had a deep and meaning ful relationship with my C4 of two years and 25,000 km now. We've done about 20 slaloms in that time too.
Other than basic service I needed to replace:
Front Wishbones (needed new bushes but Porsche only sell the complete wishbone)
Clip in the sunroof causing the thing to fail and scratch itself.
New seals for the front Brake calipers (I like to be able to stop)
New condensor for the air conditioning system (under the petrol tank - very labour intensive!)
New windscreen - stone damage.
I still need to fix: the sticky clutch pedal, the unstable tickover for about 10 secs after a cold start and replace the plastic underthe front bumper which I broke either by killing cones in slaloms or driving through deep snow.

So far I drove it for 10,000 km (6000 miles) and actually without any problems. The only thing I repaired was the lights in the center console and replaced the tires. Added just a quart liter of oil over this period.
The car is booked in for maintenance next month, and the OPC will take care of the sticky clutch pedal -of course under warranty - I have a one-year Porsche warranty on the car.
The car's been real nice to me, it's always outside and I drive it as much as I can - I might even get rid of my lease car and use the Porsche every day!

Well I've only just got my car, but here's a list of what my PPI (Post Purschase Inspection) turned up:
- Creaking and notchy clutch (when warm)
- Weak air conditioning
- Windscreen washer fluid rotten
- Polyrib belt cracked in several places (swo much for the 12,000 mile service the dealer was supposed to do!)
- Slightly noisy limited slip diff
- Geometry still less than ideal
- Tinware corroded at back of engine
- Very slight power steering reservoir leak
- Intercooler not sitting 100% flush
- Engine lid release needs lubricating
- Brake fluid possibly needs changing
- Driver's door has been resprayed
- Heat exchanger quite corroded
- Corrosion on air recirc tubes
- Two slight engine oil leaks (chest and crank front seal)
- Wheel rim damaged (that's mine, I did it)
- Slight corrosion on shock absorber
- Evidence of left front wheel rubbing against liner
- Brake pad warning light retainers not used correctly
- Worn wishbone bush at right front
Out of these, unless anyone advises me otherwise, I plan first to sort out
- The clutch
- The wishbone bush
- The polyrib belt
- The geometry (again!)
- A bunch of the minor stuff that can be done whilst the car is in
I'd also love to give the car a complete replacement of all fluids.
I wonder which of the remaining items, if not seen to soon, will cause the most damage when it goes critical...???

Greg,
If the oil levels are o.k, I would start with wishbones, and then geometry, after that try clutch [may be look in my topic 'hanging clutch pedal solved' you could have a little help on that.
The small things you could do yourself, and after a few months of driving, start to do the expensive things.
This is what I should do.
Greetings,
Arjan

My 91 C4 is a year-round car with 100,000 miles on it. I bought it at 83,000 with records showing a new clutch at 70,000.

Sorry about the glitch. Replacements have been
Front brake discs
New DME
New heater fan
New idle stabilization valve (sometimes dies after cold start in sub 30degreeF weather)
Wings accellerator pedal
I promarily use this car in winter, and can't say enough about what a great snow car it is. Expenses haven't been worse than my BMW850CSI. Can't say enough good things.

Hello there,
Today I replaced my right front brake caliper, the original one was losing the paint by corrosion, and one of the condoms was broke.
I bought a used one, in perfect shape, good paint, good condoms, clean and works fine.
I paid for a used one from 1992, 130 Euro's [aprox. 120 US Dollar]
I learned one thing to today, block your overfill line from the brakefluid container when you do a power brake bleeding..............;-(
O.k. after a little cleanup work, everything is fine again.
{The best mechanics are good because they made misstakes in the past where they learned of}
Looks nice, feels nice again to have all details perfect.
Have a nice day,
Arjan

* Rear tires
* Fixed Windshield from thrown rock
* Brake pads
* Front Rotors
* Brake sensors
* Replaced brake fluid
Car drives great and there are a few minor oil leaks I need to fix.
