Default Location of antenna boost

Hi

Can anyone tell me where I can find the antenna boost box on a 91 964 C4.

Installed a new head unit at the weekend and need to put in a new lead from the hu to the boost box junction thing.

Thanks

Rob

You can find the antenna boost under the dashboard at the right side
I don't think it is reachable without removing the dashboard top.
Removing the top is not a big job. I can tell you how to do it if you want.

I'd appreciate the instructions on how to remove the dash top.

Thanks

ok, but my native language is not english.. you are warned ! ;-)

* open both doors
* remove the plastic covers (where the door meets the dash top)
* Behind the plastic cover, unscrew 1 screw
* Remove the air grid (where the air comes out, in the middle of the top) (don't pull, 2 iron things on the top ?? are holding the grid in place)
* on the left side in the whole, remove the hidden bolt (metric 10) (difficult to reach)
* unscrew all visible scres to remove the iron grid (on top of the daschboard top)
* remove the iron grid
* behind the iron grid, remove the last 2 screws.

now you can remove the dashboard top

Hi Rob,

You can reach the antenna amp by just pulling the clock out of the dash (on a RHD car). The booster is the small black box, about 2 1/2" x 2", behind this.

Cheers
Ian

Peter/Ian

Thanks for the step by step and location of the antenna box. They were both needed and spot on.

I needed to install a new antenna lead which was ordered from my local OPC, but doesn't fit the box. Porsche have updated the lead and not the actual booster so the two don't fit (even if you order both bits new).

Thanks for your help chaps.

Follow Peter's instructions for dash top removal. Get yourself a small 10mm spanner (wrench?), this will make the job of removing the nuts easier.

Remove the clock (rhd, so not sure if lhd are the same) and you can reach in to the boost box.
As I said, I needed to put a new antenna cable and power lead in but the one that Porsche supplied didn't fit the box. I removed the box and took it with the new lead to my local ICE shop to have soldered on.

The old cable in my car was covered in a plastic tube and held down with all the guage wiring, so to remove I pulled the old cables through the dash with a long, hooked bit of wire, cut the cables near the booster box and pulled through the plastic tube. To re-install, I just laid the new cable across the back of the dash.

Hope it goes ok, if I can help anymore, give me a PM.

Thanks

Rob
