To undo the oil line at the filter console, a 36mm crows foot socket is needed.
Where can I get one of these?
Or will a 1 7/16" sized crows wrench fit the bill?
Thanks

Garrett,
Have you found an inexpensive source yet for a crowsfoot that will fit? Last time I had to pull the oil line I borrowed an oil line wrench from another rennlister and a large adjustable with 18" aluminum extension pipes and it was still a nightmare.

36mm=1.4173in
1+7/16 in = 1.4375in
20 thousandths is too tight, but for a crow's foot you could probably use it if you couldnt find anything better.
1+7/16 w/ 1/2" drive is 23 bucks through mccmaster fyi.

Inexpensive, nope! But the cheapest I found was $70.05 shipped to my house, from http://www.SamstagSales.com/
Cupcar has a 36mm wrench I am going to try first, if not I'll break down and get it!

I just changed the same line on my car with a wrench I got from Pelican. I could only move it an 1/8th of a turn at time due to clearance in the wheel well but after about fifteen minutes both fittings shown backed out together. The wrench was under 30 bucks and with all the other lines on the car I think the chances are good that I'll use it again in the future.

Thank you !! I was not aware of the crow-foot spanner...
I ordered this set:
from
http://www.eagleday.com/specialtools.html
hoping that they work in the back... from that photo I think I should order the crow-foot spanner in 36mm as well just in case.

I used the straight wrenches to remove mine. It is much easier if the tire is removed and the car is on a lift. IIRC I had to use an extension pole on the turning wrench. Once you break the nut loose, you can simply unscrew by hand.

I went to my local auto supply "job shop" and they were able to source a 36mm POS made in China crowsfoot for $11USD. It was a special order and took two weeks but it cracked open the oil line fitting on the first try (with a 3 foot breaker bar).

I forgot to followup on what I used - I used two big crescent wrenches which worked perfectly!! The lines came apart without a problem - and not even a bruised knuckle!
No need for that tool - especially the $100 version!

Garrett,
I recently removed mine, and nothing I did would loosen that nut. I tried heat and everything else. In the end I twisted off the oil line.
Of course that was before I found out that the oil line was worth a fortune.
Part #964 207 252 14
OIL COOLER LINE
- This is a special-order, non-returnable, part
(availability and shipping charges may vary).
OEM-96420725214 $402.95
From Sunset Import: $259.50
How could a simple bent tube with two flare fittings be worth this kind of money? Some days Porsche parts are just ridiculous.
So, umm be careful!

Kirk,
I paid $166.65USD last month for that line from EBSracing (rennlist sponsor). Had I not used a three foot breaker bar I'd probably still be out there trying to loosen the nut.
