This is an old thread and I wanted to revive it rather than starting a new one. When converting a '93 LHD 964 (steering wheel on the LEFT) to RHD traffic (driving on the LEFT side of the road), what parts are required to change the lights:

Is it: 911 631 023 00 (Complete Headlamp with Vertical aim adjustment)?

or

can I simply exchange the lens with: 911 631 927 01 (Right Hand Drive Lens)

Alternatively, I'd appreciate if someone with a LHD car could please provide a copy of their manual that shows how to tape off the headlights for driving on the left.

Thanks!

Frank, does your car have H4's or H5's? Item 19 on the PDF in your post is an H5. They are "sealed beam" and cannot be opened. Or at least not in the usual fashion. You can bake them etc. All US cars are H5 and you can't convert them to RHD because they were never sold in RHD countries.

The H4's on the other hand you can completely disassemble. Sorry I'm not answering your question, just wanted to make this clarification.

Frank,

You need to buy the complete headlight unit as they are LHD or RHD specific, changing the lenses is not enough.

Good point - forgot to add that I have the H4s.

Jim, any recommendations as to where to order the parts in the UK?

I need to do this for mine and I had been looking at Design 911 for the parts. £124.90 + VAT for the assembly, and £17.50 + VAT for the lenses. So far I have not found them cheaper anywhere.

Frank

This may be a little late but the Pt No you gave for new lights should also include the RHD lens. Although the LHD/RHD lenses can be swapped, the beam pattern will be screwed up. The reflectors/bulb mounts are 15 degrees out to align with the kick-up design (wedge shape)on the lens. If you want to try masking, tape over the well-defined wedge shape - this will give a flat dip pattern. UK MOT has tightened up on the lens swap over the last 2 years and I just got away with it last year when the tester applied tape to be helpful - sadly he had no idea how to do it properly and it didn't actually make any difference. The lights do come up on Ebay occasionally.

Regrads

Thanks to all. Just ordered PN 911 631 112 02 from Design911 for £99.50 + VAT (Eu 335 total) as US cars don't have the headlight leveling system. PN is 911 631 023 00 is for cars that have the leveling system (M605). Local Porsche dealer wanted Eu Eu 1182 for the pair.
