Very Nice Marc

Almost too nice to work in. About the floor, have you considered those stick on linoleum (like) tiles empervious to oil/gas. I've seen a black and white checkered board pattern in some pictures of garages and you could put down a few to test if they can handle a Canadian winter freeze/thaw.

Just a suggestion

I can't help myself...
My father-in-law had an epoxy floor put in, by a pro, and it has begun to peel and thier floor was oil free (pealing under their tires). Also a friend of mine has the checkerboard floor in his six car garage. It really looks great, but he doesn't do any home service.

Marc, how about a finished parking area and a raw work area. That's a savings of 50%.

Your space looks great!

Hiya
I suggest that we do a group install of floor paint .
A couple of the big guys hold Marc down while the rest of us slap a coat of paint on his floor.

Small dark parts get lost on the black . I like light color floors so small springs / dammit clips / tiny screws , stand out . Same sort of thing with the speckled floors .

(Sigh)

I should just rename this thread "My Sad Looking Floor"

Okay, after the suspension re-do this winter, I'll fix up the floor and post new pictures.

Marc,

You know if they did not really like it they would not have bothered to look closely enough to find the one little thing to nitpick you on

I didn't even notice the flloor until everyone started bashing it. It's a garage, not a museum. It'll always be dirty no matter what you've got down but if it's tile then you'll feel even more obligated to keep it clean. You'll have to vacuum it every other week...what a PITA.

Knowing that Marc likes to do things very well , when he posted photos of his beautifull new garage / shop / Porsche shrine , its was noticed that the floor did not fit in with the overall ambiance and we were just encouraging him , in a lite hearted way , to do his usual high quality work . The painting of the floor would be , super additive , a small thing that would have a major impact .

Also it was a play on sour grapes .

Chris M:

BIG ditto! As my wife says, "What's the point of having something if you don't use it?"

With ceramic tile a good mop is enough to get rid of the dirt. Dark grout takes care of the little drops of oil or brake dust... no big deal to keep it looking good. If you get the tile that has the integral color (same color all thru the tile) any chips from falling tools or parts would be hard to see...

I have done it in every house I have owned... just makes it easier to keep it looking good... to me the garage is just like another room in the house...

Marc - Chin up.
Wait till i show my Garage Mahl -
My floor looks like total Crap (it was painted with HD bought Epoxy) which started coming up the first time i drove on to it. 3 years later i power washed most of it off and now it looks like crap.
I am planning on doing a floor sometime. Industral Linolium. it's slick i know - maybe tile - definitly not paint.
