Will these 18's fit my 964...?
Hey all, need some more help.
Right now I have 17" Boxster S twists on...tire size 205/50ZR17, and 255/40ZR17...
I am interested in buying a set of OEM 996 turbo twists...the sizes for them are: Front--> 225/40/ZR18’s on 18x8 +50mm offset. The rear are 295/30/ZR18’s on 18x11 +45mm offsets.
OEM Part#’s
front wheels #99636213601
rear wheels are #99636214201
Will these fit my 964? And if it makes a difference, my 964 is lowered to about RS height.
Thnx,
Harry

Harry,
I think you will have a problem with the 11s in the back. I ran 10s w/44mm offset & 285s on the RSA I just sold & they just cleared the outer fenders on the outside & oil line on the pass. inside. The 11s would stick out a full inch to the outside further then my 10s did & I think that's a no go.

From your experience, would you say that 10 is the widest I should really get for the rear of the car? Then what, 8.5 for the front?
Thnx.

I have 10s with 265's in the back, and it is very tight....tight like a tiger...
I have 8.5 with 225 on the front and I don't think there is much more space there either....each car seems to differ slightly....

I would stick with 18" 8's and 9's to be safe. I have 225's on my 8's and 265's on my 9's with H&R Sport spring/Bilstein combo and even they can rub with two people in the car in the worst situations. Mine may be taken care of with an alignment setting or more pre-load, giving the car to my shop to sort while i'm away this week.. this is how it currently sits..

Here's how mine sits with the current Boxster S wheels...
It's just not quite "there" yet.

Sweet car Harry. What are the Boxster twist wheel widths on the car now (guessing 7 and 8)? It looks like you could easily add another inch of width to both ends and still have plenty of clearance.

Marc,
44mm rear after spacers, 50mm front, no spacers . The wheels are actually 65mm rears with a factory 21mm turbo spacer. 65s are very common as they were used on the 993s. They are Fikses. Found them used here, in the Rennlist classfieds, for under $ 2k w/ used MPSCs. Don't you love this place!

The silver ones are factory 993 BBS Sport Technic wheels (8s & 10s)

All,
Please be aware when considering the fitment of wider than stock wheels of the concept of "body offset".
When Porsche built the 964 they allowed a tolerance of -0 to +15mm offset of the body to the right when viewed from the rear of the car. This can mean that your 964 rear wheels are slightly "off-centre" when viewed from the rear. The amount of offset can affect the clearance in the rhs rear arch where all the oil pipes are.
I know this sounds crazy but believe me it is true, I had a long dialogue with the factory on this regardig my previous car which exhibited a full +15mm offset front and rear.
Also note that the oil pipe that runs behind the rhs rear wheel was modified (in 1991 I think) to flatten off the section behind the tyre, presumably to allow for the fitmet of 17" rims as an option.
Fianlly there is an issue with 18" wheels on a 964, something to do with the suspension, I am sure that one of our experts can add further detail but porsche specifically recommend against it unless mods are carried out.
Hope this helps, just my six penn'orth (or two cents!)

Hi,
I also had 18" on my previous 694. The rims were coming from a 996. 8x18 ET 52 front and 10x18 ET 65 rear. I had to use 15mm spacers on the rear.
It did not rubb except a bit on the front but not more than with 7x17" porsche cup wheels
