Eion -

Sparco has actually come out with an Evo 3 that is 3cm wider than the Evo 2 (so, 6 cm wider than an Evo). In my car, I have an Evo driver's and an Evo 2 passenger. Mr. C4 obviously fit 2 Evo 2s, but two Evo 3s might be pushing it. Then again, you could go with an Evo 3 driver's and an Evo passenger -- just gotta choose skinny instructors.

I'll answer as a tech inspector for our region, and Jeff hit the key points. In many regions it's "equal restraints, which includes the seats". So, for someone who wants to run harnesses, I look for two seats that support harnesses with holes in the shoulder area for the harness shoulder straps to pass thorugh. If one is an SRD and the other is an EVO, that's OK, they meet the DE safety requirements. If one is an SRD or EVO-type seat and the other a stock seat, that would fail.

Johannes,

Are those RS door panels done in blue? Most are done in black, and I'd like to find someone who can make them in dark blue.

Bill, these guys may be able to help you out. Someone on Pelican mentioned them, and seemed to be happy with the end result.

No affiliation etc., etc., just a possible future customer.

However, if I supply the vinyl, they'll use it to construct the door panels. So, they are an option, however, I'd like to find someone who can make them without me supplying the vinyl.

Johannes,

Very nice, I have been thinking about such an arrangement for some time now. Basically I don't fit with a helmet on and the standard seats (I'm nearly 2 meters) which is stopping me from driving my car on the track.

Some questions for you:
- apart from the seats, what other hardware did you use? (sliders, etc)

- would it be possible to put the original seats back in? I don't want to loose the originality of my car

Finally, you should remove the rear seats, that should save you a few more kilos.

Regards

Why are Sparco Evo (£560) so much more than SParco lightweight (£178). They both weigh about 5.6kg??
Maybe its the way it mounts or something??

Also, why are the really wide seats for 'bigger' people called the Sparc "America" - thats a bit rude to our friends on the other side of the pond!!

Riccardo,

I used Sparco sidemounts and sliders and a original Porsche bracket to secure the seatbelt mechanism on the tunnel side. Still doubt if you will get roof clearance, being 2 meters tall.

Of course you can re-install the original seats, the Sparcos are monted to the same mounting poits.

Yes, the rear seats are out by now!

Ciao,

Johannes E.

Bill,

Changing the vinyl on the RS door panel is an easy DIY. Here's a pic of my panel on my '81 I did in graphite.

I'll be swapping panels with my 964 and I'll be changing back to black.....or is it back in black (AC/DC)?!!

Thanks Riccardo,

I don't have that kinda **** (electric locking on center console) and my -73 didn't have that either & I've been wondering...

Don't have to anymore!

Does anyone know where to get these for 993 (better bodies & that eBay company both don't have them for 993)?
