Paint on '90 964
Looking at a one owner '90 C4. Paint on the area just above the engine cover is a bit faded. This car has mostly been garaged. It also appeared to me that the sheet metal above the engine cover was a bit hot. Not so hot that you could not touch it, but quite warm. I wondered if you experienced folk out there have encountered this and if this is normal.
Other than a bit of faded paint - the car was perfect, including paint in front, rear fenders, hood, roof, etc.
And, the owner had the engine rebuilt at something like 90,000 miles by a local Porsche dealer (clutch was replaced at same time). Cost for engine (only) $11,000.

Sounds normal, the engines are air cooled and the body panels in the rear get pretty warm after a good run through rush hour traffic and/or long periods of sitting during a hot day, car running.
As for faded paint, well, it is a 1990...is it red? I would question the "always garaged" claim at that point.

My car has also been garaged for most of its life and is Guards Red. The colour on the engine lid is slightly 'jaded' - you can't really see it unless you really look for it. I can only thing that heat is the cause.
