Question Help! Fitting cabrio wind deflector

Hi,

I have just purchased a genuine Porsche (original equipment) wind deflector for my 1990 964 cabrio - bought secondhand with no fitting instructions. I though it would be fairly straightforward to fit, but clearly this was misguided optimism ....

Can anyone help please? There are two pivoting arms on the underside of the deflector which don't appear to have anywhere to locate / sit in the car - am I missing something?

If anyone knows how these are supposed to fit, any help very much appreciated! I can post pics of the problem if it will help.

Thanks in anticipation,

Jeremy.

On my '91 cab there are two black plastic circles on each side of the rear of the cabin.

The two fold down plastic arms fit into those holes, the 2 elastic straps hook into the wire loops (the same ones you use for the cab boot) and the wire frame rests on the seat.

I'm on the road right now - if you cannot make yours work by the weekend I'll add photos and see if I can dig out and scan my instructions.

If your car didn't come with the windstop, it won't have the plastic caps that Ruairdh is referring to - they come with the windstop kit.

Your car should have a black plastic disc (around 2 inches in diameter) on each side, near the rear speakers. These discs pop out to allow access to the convertible top's mechanism (in case you have to operate it manually). The kit comes with discs that replace the solid plastic discs - they look similar, except they have holes in their centers for the plastic arms to fit into.

Maybe Porsche will sell you the holed discs by themselves - give your local Porsche dealer's parts department a call. If not, you'll probably have to drill holes in your discs.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice - I have contacted AFN and they are ordering the new plastic discs for me. Apparently they are £11 each!! Seems a little steep for what they are - maybe I should have drilled the old ones.

BTW the chap at AFN also told me that Porsche are currently in the process of installing a new stock system in Germany which seems to be causing a few problems when ordering parts. Has anyone else had problems with delays recently?

Cheers, <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

Can anyone tell me what the part number for the wind deflector is? I've look on the PET cd and there isn't one listed for the 964 - however there is one for the 993, but there are two types listed there for older and newer cars.

A previous owner had a wind break listed in the old documentation, part number 000 043 202 10, but I can't find this on the PET cd.

Can anyone help me out here?

i.
