Default Opinion Needed: RS Doors or Not

I'm in the process of converting from Tan to Black interior and right now I have the choice of re-covering/replacing my tan door panels with black. I already have the black handles and door pocket covers. OR I can purchase new RS Style minimalist door panels.

My C4 is my daily driver.

What's everyone think?

Thanks,
Puma

I went RS style... lost a lot of pounds (the car... I on the other hand, need to start a diet) and the minimalistic look is awesome...

I have a '91 C4 daily driver which I purchase with RS doors.

At first I was a bit scheptical of the change, but now I love them. I suppose one might miss the door handle pockets. At least I think there are pockets. I've never had them so don't miss them. Well, I am at a loss for places to put things like my cell phone charger, sun glasses, etc, etc.

Bottom line, I've come to love the look of them and I love the door pull. Everyone who sees the car comments on them and seems to think them appropriate for the car.

My $0.02,
Dave

Franckly, I don't see the interest. If you want to get a car a little bit more lighter, why not, but if it is only for the look ....!
And you're gonna loose the door pockets, which are reather useful !!

For me, if I didn't have the armrest pockets, I'd be screwed as there isn't enough room to fit anything in the glovebox, and I have little odds and ends in the door pockets [sunglasses, stamps, CD jewel cases, etc]...if your 964 was a toy, I would say RS Panels all the way, but you really lose most of the already small stowage capacity if you nix the armrest cubbies.

I think the minimalist aesthetic and the RS door panels really work wtih black on black, which you have done. btw, the red pulls w/ black on black I think would look fantastic.

I have a black on black RSA which had speakers in the RS door panels. I personally didn't think that fit the look, so I did a radio/speaker delete, which I think looks better. ...but, I don't have rear seats or a rear bin either or a passenger seat. Just a racing seat and a rollbar - sort of a single minded, uncompromising, anti-996/997, anti-mass market interior. (I wimped out on the AC though...it's just too hot in Sacramento, CA +100 > 15 days in July, sheesh)

If it's a daily driver, I'd stick with the standard door panels as they prove handy when storing stuff & double as a drink holder! You'd only really save weight if you went with panels that did not have any speakers.

I recently switched to RS door panels and I love them. I wanted a more clean appearance, so I did not use the three screws on the bottom; I used velcro to attach the bottoms instead.

Nice idea, can we see a photo ?

I'd quite like a set of the RS door cards, but i'm not sure what to do about speakers. i guess i could just upgrade the rears and leave it at that. . .

for a daily driver it might be a bit much though puma. although for sunglasses and a wallet you could get the tape-holder replacement centre tray thing?

Don't the RS panels have the elasticated door pocket anyway?

I think aftermarket only. I could be wrong.

Both... I have seen factory cars with and without the elastic pockets... I have mine without them.

I still prefer the car without all that crap... pulling the strap to open it is frigging cool

I have to agree. Pulling the strap to open the door makes everyone who's been in my car smile.

I have no elastic pockets, but mine were, obviously, after market.

I want to do this but hesitant b/c of the lack of storage space. I've never liked the looks of that flip up armrest storage area, but its all I've got!

Now if I could find or build a "dump" for the back area where the seats used to be... any sources known for this?
