Post Battery Problems...964 C4

Finally I think I didnīt have any battery drain, it looks as if the Battery is out I have disconnected it from the car and have been charging and it seems as if it is not charging at all.

The battery charger is also a start help, with it I managed to get the car running once but after a ride the battery was again down.

I donīt remember well when I last changed but maximum two years, I had changed it at the official Porsche Dealer, does anyone know if they have any type of warranty?

And just in case I donīt want to be paying again for a Porsche battery, does anyone know the specifications for our car battery?

Which battery should I change it for Bosch? Varta? how many amps? is there a possibility to put a stronger Battery?

Thanks

Alex,

I had problems with the light in the trunk draining the battery and after it happened a few times the battery failed to charge properly. As a result I have fitted a larger one without any problems. I'm at work and don't know the specs for it offhand but I can check them for you if you wish.

Alex,

The C4 needs to 74 amp/hour battery. If you can get hold of a Bosch Silver get one!

I īve checked Bosch Web page and for this model C4 90, the silver and the silver plus are 88Ah batteries, Iīve been offered with VARTA batteries which they have told me is the same maker of Bosch batteries also 88Ah.

ref. Silver Plus 0093 T58 82Z
ref. Silver 0093 S58 80X

Thanks

left hand rear corner of trunk lid (just above fuse box) there is a lamp that should go on when trunk is opened - and off when it is closed.

It took a while to find out that the light was the problem. Everytime you closed the trunk the light would go out before it was fully closed but due to a dodgy connection once fully clsed the wire was positioned in such a way as to force it on again so it always looked fine and turned out it wasn't <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Iīve checked the lights both in the engine compartment and on the trunk, both are not working because the light bulb seems broken.

What is the best option to avoid any battery drain to take the bulbs out?

Alex,

Take the bulbs out. This should break the light circuit & stop any battery drain. Also check the wiring for the lights & switchs to ensure they are not shorting on the bodywork as this may cause current drain too...
