And the new Bentley book looks to be an expanded technical reference of sorts, not like the Bentley SC or Carrera manuals, ie. not a substitute for the factory manuals (even though that would be pretty easy to do....)

That's what I understand, also Bill. I do have the factory manual, but it is a pain to find & follow stuff there.

Dear Horst,
As I am sure you are aware the Porsche Manual is also missing a lot. I was told by Porsche that this was a "need to know" decision.
Ciao,

Adrian, damn it, I am irritated at Porsche for this (usual) high-handed thinking. For the money we spend on these manuals, a lot more needs to be included. They seem to ASSUME that they know my needs better than I do. That attitude spills over to the highly restrictive legal position they are taking toward their logo. I can understand a company not wanting their logo put on cheezy stuff, but what about for, example, Lloyds Floor mats? They are BETTER than the Porsche stuff (I was going to say crap, but I won't) they sell. I cant get a Lloyds mat with the crest anymore. Sorry for the rant & rave.

High,
Horst, what about this idea?; On page 78 of performance products they sell "Statesman" mats(a product of Lloyd), and on page 132 of perfoormance products they sell "Genuine Porsche" crest patches, A set of mats, 2 crest patches, and a good auto uhpolstry shop u can have yourself "Lloyd crest mats".
I actually have a set of the Lloyd mats w/ the crest that I ordered when they announced they would have to discontinue them, new in the box(never used), any bids?

George- We shoulden't have to "jury rig this stuff" Anyhow I think I asked someone some time ago, and was tols that was illegal. Anyhow, I just sold a set of black crest mats, including the rear deck crest mat from my 930. These were only in place during concour judging, and except for the feet of the judges, never had a human foot on them. Sadly these did not fit my 964 with the tan interior. Tell me more about yours...

High,,
Horst, I agree w/u, personally rigging isn't an option for myself(or you)but i'd figure i'd run it by you anyhow. My crest mats are black FOR a 964, and even the judges feet havent ever been on 'em, I cant bring myself to use these beauties. I ordered them when Lloyd announced they would not be making Porsche mats anymore., I didnt mean to tease anyone but mine arent for sale, I know i'd shoot myself in the long run for dumping them. WHAT? did I hear someone say a GRAND?

to bad they are black. Even though I couldent' use the ones I had for my 930, I think I should have kept them. Too ****-retentive, probably.

I received this email from Charles Burke at Bentley the other day.

I have forwarded Adrian and Bill's emails to him to include in the group to review it before final publication.

Subj: RE: Porsche 964 Manual

Hi Tom,

Well we have FINALLY made progress on the 964 tech handbook. We have approx.
60% of the book in final form. The lead editor on this project is Soheil
Zendeh and I have asked him to contact you as well. I hope you're still up
for the task of giving this a read. This type of real world input is so
incredibly valuable to us and I really appreciate any help you can give us.
Of course we'll give you copies of the book when it's done, but if there is
anything else we can do, please don't hesitate to ask, especially if there
are any books you see on our webpage. I would be happy to oblige. If you can
think of any one else who can help as well? We are trying to get this off to
press this month or early next month.

Thanks again for helping out and if you are ever in the Boston area, please
stop in to see us.

Regards,

Charles A. Burke

Let's have them send copies to the first 553 members of this board, and we will all give them a critique!

Damn! I would LOVE to give this book a read...hopefully it's a far cry from anything Haynes would produce.

I like Horst's idea, especially being that I'm member "503".

Tom, if they are looking for people to give it a serious read-over, have them send a copy to me...what do you know about 964s anyway??
