Hi Bassam,

It's very difficult to tell from your description so this is just a guess.

If the car continues to run for a few moments after the ignition is turned off, then this is probably due to a hot spot in a cylnder (surface of the head or cylnder). Often this is due to build up of burned oil residue on top of the piston or a burned valve. The point get so hot it carries on igniting unburned fuel that gets pulled into the cylnder.

If this is the case then I would suspect that you are going to need a top end overhaul. I wouldnt carry on pushing it too hard in this situation, you can drop a valve or burn a piston eventually.

Anyway get it checked over by a P mechanic, they will spot the prob. pretty soon.

Good luck

Ade

Hey Bassam,

Good to see another Porsche brother from the Middle East. I live in Abu Dhabi and drive a 964 C4. Send me an e-mail if you are coming to Abu Dhabi.

Ciao,

Johannes E.

Bassam, are you referring to a pump or motor that continues to run for a few moments after you shut the engine off? -NOT the engine, right?

If so, it is either your heater blower motor (upper left hand side of engine compartment) that is running to alleviate HOT air from the exhaust system -or- it's your hydraulic pump for your ABS braking system.

***BOTH ARE NORMAL!***

hi all, and thanks Ade - C4 91,Mr. C4 , Jeff Curtis, to be honest this first time i own a Porsche, well my brothers owned Porsches before, but i was a Japanese & Americans sports cars fan, but after my older brother left his 97 993TT i fell in love with started searching for porsche since then, I find porsches are really solid cars, althought my privous supra faster & i made it handles better, but the "feeling" of handling in the porsche felt more
Mr. C4 good news they will have a POCO = Porsche owner Culb of Oman this will make it more cool becuase the events & drive ways in Oman, i always come to Al-Buriami just beside Al-ain, but i always comes to Abu Dhabi once every month sometimes
if you also come to Oman please email me <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />
