One of the oil lines from the oil resevoir to the oil thermostat is leaking - not a lot, but enough to annoy.

If I'm going to tear into this project I'm thinking of replacing hoses labeled #30, #26, #21, #22. Has anyone done this themselves? Or is this a messy job best left to professionals?

I recently replaced #21 & 22. #22 is a breeze. #21 was a bit of a struggle. The hose is about 3" long, but the flanges on the thermostat and oil tank only leave you about an inch clear in between to squeeze the new hose in. I had to cut the old #21 out first. It was brittle and had been leaking for years, as evidenced by a 1/4 inch of dirt on the thermostat. I found that by loosening the thermostat and oil tank mounting bolts I could gain another 1/2 and get the new hose in. It took me about 5 minutes to replace #22 and about 1.5 hours for #21. It's up to you if you want to leave this job to the professionals. The job is not difficult, only somewhat frustrating working in such a tight space.
I did not replace 30 & 26, but intend to do so in the near future.

I've done the same as Myles, but tried to do #30...and it seems impossible without removing the oil tank...so it's gone unchanged for the moment and the new part sits on my workbench.
Before my big trip to the Midwest, I even changed out the steel line (#28) and the hose attached to it (#29) because it appeared I had a leak at the location where the steel hose goes into the case...I even changed out the steel fitting and seal to no avail! <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />
I'm lead to believe at this point that it's just oil migrating from other places like the timing chain housing to camshaft housing "O"-rings and gaskets. ...or the dreaded 1991 and below cylinder base leakage - which is fairly evident on my car.
