door push LED's
Hi Rennlisters,
Any ideas why one of the flashing LED's on the door lock pushes has stopped flashing? I thought LED's lasted forever.
TIA, Taj.

Dear Taj,
It may mean that the door is not locked. It may be physically locked but not electronically. The door actuator activates a microswitch inthe locked position. This microswitch may be broken. The LED will not flash under these circumstances but the other locked door will. I would find it hard to believe that the LED itself is kaput,

PS: I had the same situation years ago when my central locking started playing up.

I had a door lock led indicator on my passenger door which didn't work when I purchased my car.
I took it back to the dealer under warranty. They told me that a wire or contact was not connecting properly and it was fixed without too much trouble. I would suggest that you need to get the wiring checked.

If you remove the 'capping' from inside the door, you can get at the problem.
One of my LEDs stuck ON.
Turns out to have been a bad contact...
the LED is surrounded by a coil mounted on the door capping, the plug which connects this to its wiring can get a poor contact inside it. I just pulled it apart, scraped all the pins clean and...

John, Adrian, and Stephen,
Thanks for the info, looks like a door card off job. I'll keep an eye out for the coil and its plug, together with whatever that is plugged into.
I'll also check the LED by screwing it in the other side.
Taj.

Not had time to get the door card off yet, more pressing issues to solve first. I did swap the LED's over and there is still no flashing in the same door. Also checked that the system is arming ok and that reaching through an open window to unlock the car results in the horn sound and the doors automatically relocking. All of the above works. Could it just be this connector for the LED then?
