What do you dislike about your 964?
Just starting looking at buying a 964...I've heard plenty of what everyone likes (performance, etc.). I've read about the common problem areas (oil leaks, flywheel problems, and vented distributors). But what about the medium-to-minor dislikes, nit-picks, and other irritants?
What are top five or so things that bug you about your car?

I have a 91' C2 Targa Tiptronic..complaints about my car is like dating Cindy Crawford and complaining she can't cook meatloaf like I want it..but here it goes:
1) no tilt steering...I'm 6'1" and have to get in a certain way to clear my knees.
2) The stalks for the turn signals, wipers, computer, and cruise are too close to the rim of the steering wheel. My hands hit those things and I come out of a turn with my turn signals on, and my wipers on fast...
3) and last but not least...more men than women look at me (at the car) than when I'm driving my 4X4 truck!
PS...yes, I'd like some cheese with this whine.

Hey Robert,
"medium-to-minor dislikes, nit-picks, and other irritants" !!!!!!
Buy the car, drive the car, enjoy the car! Don't get irritated. Life's too short.

The more you drive it, the more you like it. I'm 6'1" and am very comfortable in all regards. I'd like better windshield wipers, since 911 wipers work badly in slushy conditions. There isn't a car that each owner might not change one thing, like the radio buttons, but overall, it's hard to find anything to complain about. Oops. Forgot pedal relationships. You'll need one of the gas pedal add-ons if you heel/toe the downshifts. AS

Robert, you know the olde saying, "if it's got **** or wheels, youre gonna have problems with it" The only thing I DON'T like about my 964 is it's not my 930.

1. Service Workshop Manual Vol I
2. Service Workshop Manual Vol II
3. Service Workshop Manual Vol III
4. Service Workshop Manual Vol IV
5. Service Workshop Manual Vol V
(you get the idea)
My 964 rocks, my 964 service manuals suck...
I was very disappointed after spending so much money for them. What I would give for a Bentley manual for the 964!
Don't buy the manauls! Ask on rennlist, you'll get much better information!
Oh well, this topic gets my blood pressure up, time to go for a drive...

I went to a performance school where the instructor (italian) told me "porche, you 'ave to drive them ard.." And it's true.
The only frustration I have - I can't drive it "ard" out of consideration for other road users and the constabulary. And, it's too hot down here (cold air makes this car fly)
Yee haaaa.....

And one other thing..
I had thought about getting another vehicle to car the young fella around in. I've tried BMW's, Lexus, Porche - 993, 968 and Nothing, NOTHING, comes close to being the complete car that the RSA is. It's the build, the noise, the handling and control.
Get a 964 - put in a filter, bypass and chip. Put on 17 or 18 inch wheels and you'll love it. In fact you'll never, ever, want to sell it and that's why it's so hard to find a good one.

My '91 C4 just crossed the 21K mile mark. About the only thing that seriously bugs me is that the probability of me having to replace the original Freudenberg dual mass flywheel is something that I'll likely end up doing within a few years, if not sooner. I factored this, and for that matter a complete overhaul of the engine into my maintenance costs even though the "leaker" syndrome is blown WAY out of proportion and my car is already fitted with the updated cylinders and pistons. The odds of getting a "leaker" aren't high (in my opinion)...I looked at tons and never saw ANY....I think this may really be a '89 thing.
Another thing I don't like are the seats. Maybe I have some weird "sport seats" or something in my car, but I'm pretty broad shouldered and the deep buckets I have actually pinched my shoulders in. I corrected this with some dense foam cutouts to raise my back out of the "well". I know that's really a stupid complaint, but I swear, I think it actually irritated me more than facing a dual mass flywheel replacement...even though it only cost about $10 to fix!
