Glove Box Alarm

Glove Box Alarm
Hi All
I was wondering if someone preferably with a 1990 could see if their alarm sounds when the glove box is opened after the alarm is armed. The way I've been testing mine with no luck is to lock the car doors (i.e arm the alarm) with the passenger window down then reach in through the open passenger window and open the glovebox - the alarm should sound then unlock the doors which will disarm the alarm and turn off the alarm. The glove box light works as it should in mine but the alarm does not sound. The alarm works on everything else (i.e. front bonnet, engine lid, ignition etc).
Your help is appreciated

It will depend a bit on where people are I guess. In the UK, we have interior motion sensors so your test would fail before we got to the glovebox.
But - it would seem unnecessary to alarm the glovebox. To open the glovebox, wouldn't you usually have had to break into the car? Which means that if the alarm is going to work it's already gone off anyway. I would be surprised if the glove box was alarmed for that reason - seems a bit redundant.

I didn't realize Porsche installed motion sensors in the Eoropean version. I thought they were all based on a switch being closed when a door is opened (i.e. causing a current drain to be sensed) and thereby setting off the alarm. All I've been told is the glove box is part of the alarm system in the same way all other doors are. I'm open for suggestions as to how I can test it.
Your responses are appreciated

The UK cars had motion sensors installed at Porsche GB after importing.
I've disabled mine as first one and then the other refused to turn off - I must give the glovebox a test. Isn't it on the same fuse as the courtesy lights anyway?

I'd be interested to know what you observe since your's is a coupe like mine. I can understand why Porsche may have modified the alarm for cabs (jimq's car above) so that the owner can lock up valuables in the glovebox without having to put the top up if he leaves the car unattended. Does a cab have courtesy lights?
Responses Appreciated

OK, Bill, here's the result.
The glovebox light didn't set it off and neither (to my surprise) did the courtesy light. The door actually had to be opened to trigger it.

OK John
Unless we can get others to chime in and say otherwise then the glovebox at least in 1990 C2 Coupes (European and ROW) is not part of the alarm system and I can stop trying to make mine work. I'm not sure exactly how jimq set it off but just the fact that he did get it to trip the alarm kinda proves it is part of the 91 C2 Cab system.
Thanks for your help in laying this to rest once and for all!

Glove box alarm works here; I found out the embarassing way years ago.
Locked the doors with the top down reached in to make sure the glovebox was locked and Voila...instant alarm.
It is a Cabriolet and it has courtesy light. Light stays on for around 20 seconds after doors are shut or until ignition is turned on.

My guess is that the glovebox alarm is only wired for the cabs and targas, just like the cabs and targas have key locks on their hood releases (at least they used to on the older 911's)

yepp, the glovebox alarm is just for the open versions and not the coupes! I'm not sure tough if I would leave my wallet in glove box if I left the car with the top down....alarmed or not.
