Post Windsheild Replacement Tips??

The windsheild on my 90 C2 is "sandblasted" from the highway and needs to be replaced. Any tips for me, like glass brands to avoid?

My windsheild has scratches from the previous owner's failure to replace wiper blades. Has anyone tried to remove these using a polishing compound ?? (such as that sold here ----> http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/cgi-b...E=default2.htm

search for glass polishing kit).

Dear Peter,
The original glass used is Sekuriflex according to the USA version parts catalogue.
I live in Europe and now Sigla is used for replacement windshields. Maybe the same in the USA as well.
The part number for a 1990C2 windshield with the upper section tinted dark green is
964 541 011 04 and the seal is
964 541 225 00
Do not forget that little adhesive plate either part number 477 845 043.
I believe other brands are also available in the USA. Very important is to purchase a new seal of the correct part number as well. The overall key to success is correct installation and sealing,
Ciao,
Adrian.

PS: they all come with internal radio antenna and the same part numbers are used on Coupes, Cabs and Targas. There are other part numbers for full tinted windshields and clear winshields.

aggravating, I know, especially when the morning sun hits it just right. I used to live in Colorado, and seems like I went thru a windshield every year or two. My insurance co almost dropped me. Don't know about polishing, but I wonder if it really would be effective for pits. As to installation, go with the brands suggested by Adrian, and have a shop that knows their Porsches do it. IMHO, this is NOT a DIY job, unless you know glass.
