Cruise Control Question
Hello! I have finally made the transition...what a rough trip it was!
I was wondering, do any of you have a light that lights to indicate you are utilizing the cruise control function in your 964??
My Silverado lights up and says "cruise" when it's on, wondering if something is amuck in my C2??
BTW, after adjusting the switch down by the clutch pedal, it works like a charm!
If the factory doesn't have a light that lights...I'm sure Horst has figured out a way!

Dear Jeff,
You could always disconnect it and never have to worry about it again anyway,
Ciao,
911C4 (without any of these luxuries and happy for it, much less to break and a little lighter)

Hi Jeff:
There are no lights on my '90 964 that show when the cruise control is engaged. My manual makes no mention of any light for that purpose either.
Also, when you need to disengage the cruise, use the stalk lever to switch it off or tap the brakes to disengage. Don't put the car in neutral and coast. The cruise will not cancel and the car will rev to redline, and fall back to idle. Lots of US cars will cancel the cruise when the clutch is depressed, but this is not the case on the 964 (at least mine).
As Adrian said, less lights, less to break!
Good luck!

My '91 does cancel... or I should say, pause the cruise control when the clutch is depressed. Once released, it resumes control. Maybe it was an added feature?

Hi Jeff,
I always thought it to be odd--since most (cheaper) cars have the feature--but my 964 does not have a light indicating when the cruise control is engaged.
Also, as others have indicated, the cruise control will not completely disengage unless you tap the brakes or turn it off using the stalk. I bet I'm not the only one that's been surprised to have the c.c. re-engage at a semi-inopportune time, after letting the clutch pedal (back) up.

no lights, Jeff. actually, I don't see it as very important. Contrary to others,I find the cruise a plus on long boring interstate trips. Sometimes, you can't afford the fun of finding twisty alternate routes.

day when I drive to work, as an "anti-ticket" mechanism. And, then there are those long interstate trips where you eventually just want to relax and listen to music ... or
talk. I mean, it's not as if us Americans have the luxury of driving without inhibition, like a bat out of hell. After a couple hundred miles, trying to maintain a constant speed gets rather tiresome ... Finally, when you are ready to get involved in your driving again (i.e., break the law ), the c.c. is easily turned off.

Thanks guys, was just curious about a light...guess I'm spoiled by my Silverado!?? My cruise control does momentarily cancel when clutch pedal is depressed...and then resumes when released - it has provided a surprise or two lately, wheeeeeee!
BTW, I also use cruise as an "anti-ticket mechanism"...it really works, sometimes I'm a little heavy on the pedal...especially w/the "new" C2 and my new found power.
