Post Heater servo article

I didn't have anything better to do today than write an article on my experiences with heating and ventilation (HVAC) servos.

Lots of people have these problems but to my knowledge there's no website that covers this topic so here goes...

964 Heating & Ventilation servos

Please let me know where I made errors.

Thanks,
Roly

Outstanding work, Roly! Worthy of P-car.com's DIY section. You might consider sending an e-mail to Robin Sun (the webmaster), offering your work for his DIY page.

If you do wind up posting this on Robin's site, you might want to add that on a 993, the mixing flap servos are inside the left & right footwells. At least I think they are--I'm still waiting for a 993 owner to confirm.

Realy great article and great pics, Roly. Seeing those pics reminded me of my work on one of my servo's. Don't want to do that again any time soon :-)
Have a great one.

Roly, Great job. Very well written and easy to follow. Is your car air conditioned? Mine (91 C2 Cab) has two A/C line in the compartment as well. The line with the insulation on it appears to be in conflict with the servo arm on the drivers side mixing motor. Any one out there with an A/C car notice this? Thanks again for a great article that I'm sure will be used by many on this board. Regards, Roy

Randall, Bill, Eagle, Rob & Roy
Thanks for the positive feedback - I hope it helps people as much as Rennlist helps me.

Roy,
My car doesn't have aircon so I can't compare. Can you post pictures of how the a/c line interferes with the servo arm?

Roly, I will try to post pictures. Have a brand new dig. camera that I am not familiar with at this point. This will be a good test. Regards, Roy

Roly,

You are a prince sir, thank you for the detailed information. I feel the heat to my chilled extremities already.

I too have a new camera and would like to soon publish details of my experience adjusting valves with a test gauge and not the feeler. A great incentive indeed.

Thanks

Thumbs up

And thanks to Roly for allowing me to host his article on My 964 Site in the Electrics section on the Technical page.

And John T, if you need a hosting home for you valve adjustment procedure, let me know.

Thanks again, Roly,

John
