Default A 1991 C4 Coupe has a new owner

Last week I picked up a 1991 C4 Coupe. I've used many words to describe it in the few short days that I've owned it, but "awsome" is the one that keeps coming to mind! It has actually exceeded my not-so-modest expectations.

The car is Polar Silver with 36k miles. It's had a good deal of work done to it including new LUK freewheel, clutch, rotors, brakes, tires, upgraded freon, amazing sound system, lowered to euro specs, 17" cups, distributor vent kit, trans rework with close ratio gears for 3rd, 4th and 5th, new battery w/ tender, new three spoke wheel w/ airbag, a performance chip added, RS door panels (for a preferred look), and recent 30k service completed. It came complete with a full set of factory service manuals, a very nice flannel cover and the original 16" wheels complete with new tires. To say I'm thrilled is a gross understment.

Many thanks to Paul N for showing me that I actually could afford the car I've always wanted.

And, many more thanks to Dave Maynard of EuropeanLocators for lining me up with such a fine automobile at such a reasonable price. It was trully a pleasure doing business with him.

I've attached a few pics.

Cheers,
Dave

It's a pre-amp and cross over circuits for the sound system.

It has a Nakamichi CD-400 tuner with JL Audio amplifier 300/2 and MB Quart speakers with dual crossovers.

The red boards are the cross over circuits, though, to be honest, I'm not sure what that means. I can tell you that it all sounds fabulous!

Geeez, that car is gorgeous!!! I love silver cars - and most of all 964's. Great buy!!

It looks like you got the sphygmomometer option on the driver's side...

Beautiful car! I really like your list of upgrades, they've been tastefully done. Congrats on your new ownership and welcome to the board.

Nice Car! Is that a CVR PCA sticker on the side-window? Are you in western Mass?

When a newbie posts on a forum with pics of their car, you expect people to say something like 'nice car', just because it's like their own...

In this case, I'm saying 'nice car' because that's exactly what is is. Silver is a great colour for the 964.

Welcome to the forum, Dave.

Can you tell us the ratios?

These crossovers route the proper frequencies to the MB Quart speakers. A signal goes into the amplifier, then out of the amp into the crossovers. The outputs from the crossovers then go to the speakers. The correct frequencies get routed to the tweeters and to the mid range drivers.

I spoke with Dave about another car he had in his inventory this spring and he seems like a very nice person to do business with.

Good Luck with your new car!

I'll agree with "awesome". What a rare find in that color and setup. Enjoy it!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! I've been watching the list for some time now and am pleased to be an owner and member.

With regard to some of the questions posted, I have a few replies:

garrett376: It looks like you got the sphygmomometer option on
the driver's side...

Yes, it has a sphygmomanometer to adjust the lumbar. I'm told
it was stock when the car was new. Seems strange, but it works
fine.

Jason Andreas: Is that a CVR PCA sticker on the side-window? Are
you in western Mass?

It is a PCA sticker on the side-window. Though, I'm not in
Western Ma. I'm in Warwick, NY. I bought the car in
Framingham, Ma.

burgass: ... close ratio gears for 3rd, 4th and 5th. Can you
tell us the ratios?

Sorry, but I don't know the ratios for the new 3rd, 4th and 5th
gears. I've looked through the service records and the ratios
are not listed. I was told that 5th drops a couple of hundred
rpm.

Gary R.: Welcome Dave, great find! Hope to see you at some of the CVR
events (if indeed you are near here). Limerock DE's coming up!

Thanks. I look forward to attending events. I've tried to get
in to the Limerock DE, but it's already booked. I also don't yet
have my PCA membership number. It's on the way. I plan on
contacting the organizers to offer my services and then to drive
in the next event.

Jay H: These crossovers route the proper frequencies to the MB
Quart speakers. ...
I spoke with Dave about another car he had in his inventory this
spring and he seems like a very nice person to do business with.

Thanks for the input. And, you're correct about Dave. It was a
real pleasure doing business with him. I won't hesitate to
recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell.

Cheers,
Dave
