Rust
Hi everybody,
I recently discovered a small rust bubble at the bottom of the rear window, just underneath the seal. Doing a search shows this as a fairly common problem with 911s (especially older ones) but most of the solutions are along the lines of getting it fixed under the anti-corrosion warranty. Since my C2 is over 10 years old this isn't an option.
So, short of heading off to a body shop and having the window removed while it is fixed (risky & expensive!), does anybody have any recommendations as to how to treat the problem. There are a variety of "rust killers" on the market. Are any of them any good?
Thanks,
Daniel

Dear Daniel,
If you have discovered rust bubbles you need to get them fixed professionally and properly. You can try and repair small areas but unless you get the source of the rust (find the source) it will keep coming back.

Daniel,
I agree with Adrian in that you need to find the source and fix that. To fix the rust itself, I know of several guys that had good luck with the POR 15 Products. This is a multistep process that removes the organics, coverts the rust and then puts a protective coating on it. The rust is converted with a naval jelly type product and there are several of these products on the market. Some brand names are Naval Jelly, Rust Mort and POR 15 Rust Neutralizer.
Good luck.
