10"X17" Rear Wheels on 89 C4?
Hello Fellow 964 lovers,
I have an opportunity to pick up a set of very nice Ruf 5 spoke 17" wheels for my 1989 C4. They are 8" front and 10' rear with both wheels having 55 mm offset.
I would expect to run 235 tires on the front and 255 on the back.
I am pretty sure that the fronts will fit because I have run 8" X 16" 52 mm offset on the front of my car before. I have a feeling that things may be tight on the rear though.
Any opinions as to whether the rears will fit? I do have a variety of spacers between 6mm and 15mm so I can fine tune things a little to add offset however the lowest offset I can go with is what the wheels have right now (i.e. 55 mm) so I guess the question is, is there enough room on the inside of the wheel well?
The car is lowered about 1 1/2" with koni yellows and eibach springs and has ppretty close to stock camber settings.
Thanks!

I have a set of 8x17" in front and 10"x17" in rear. The fronts are the ones that rub and I had put in a 8mm spacer all the way around (which is pushing it). The fronts only rub when the wheel is in the full turning position. I do not know the offset by mine are 17" turbo c2 wheels (factory).
Cheers,
Boris

I have 10x17's in the rear, for track usage, with 275's and they fit fine. With 275's you have potential rubbing of the oil line and guiding arm, which shouldn't be a problem with 255's. In the front, you probably already know about changing the steering rack spacers before putting 17" wheels on your earlier 964 (if it hasn't been done already), and that there may be some tire/body rubbing. Believe Porsche had a technical bulletin that talked to fitting 17" wheels to pre-92 964's.

Geoff,
I want to say the offset is around 47mm. However, I just went to the garage to measure the offset, and it looks like it's a bit higher, around 52-55mm.

Thanks Gents,
I measured up my car and calculated that I should be fine with 275 tires on the rear provided I use an 8 mm spacer to give me about 48 mm (i.e 56mm-8mm) offset. That seems pretty consistent with what I'm hearing.
