Post Superchips - off topic

I recently bought an Audi A6 Avant 2.5TDi Quattro (180BHP). Superchips do a chip which claims +20BHP and torque +20%.
1) Are these claims realistic?
2) Is there a reason not to do this ie can it damage engine etc?

Thanks in advance!
Piers

Er, I think this is the Porsche forum

What the hell would we know about Audi diesels!!

OK, I'll get my hat......

Seriously, though, if its a turbo diesel, I expect that some of the gains cna be made by upping boost etc etc. Th e993 turbo boys get some silly numbers with chip re-programming.

Anything that involves a Turbo can be chipped for reasonable gains. 20% sound about right - thats 36hp - I don't know about torque though.

Check <a href="http://www.auto-amd.com/tdi.asp" target="_blank">this</a> out while you are there.
