We've all gotten speeding tickets before. Most of us have gotten away with some serious *ss-hauling that would have deserved a ticket.
So what's the fastest you've ever been ticketed for?

I have a ticket right here in my hands...
It was for 175 in a 45 MPH zone.
It was total BS, I was not doing 175. The officer just made it all up, and the case was thrown out.
Ya see, he caught me to ticket me - right?..
And he was in a Taurus unmarked car...
So... When in front of the judge for my court case I asked the officer "how did your Taurus catch my speeding Porsche if I was in fact going 175 MPH?" The judge perked up, looked over at the officer... But the officer did not have an answer for that one.
The judge tossed the case out right after that statement.
I took a quick pic to document the event...
175... Sheezz he was 10 MPH off at least.

Hi,
Does it have to be in the 964? I haven't been caught in that yet (or haven't broken the speed limit, depending on your point of view). But the fastest I've been caught at was 115mph - which I thought was quite impressive before I saw the post above!
Unfortunately - I did get booked for mine. The policeman (it was night time and I didn't even know he was behind me) caught me when I slowed down because I was approaching a point where there are often police cars. Doh!

About 6 years ago, in a 1989 C4, I got caught doing 165 in a 70. It was written up as wreckless driving and I got to ride in the police car, and about $1500 later (impound, tow truck, attorneys fees, fine, court cost, etc...) I'm a rehabilitated man!

On the last day of my honeymoon, in France, I was going for top speed in a 928GTS (beautiful car, still miss it) and managed 170mph (282kph on the digital readout). Slowed back down to a cruising speed of 100mph but as I came over a crest in the road about 5 minutes later I saw a police car up ahead. I slowed more but the blue light came on and they pulled me over....
Fortunately they only booked me for 120mph (which I suspect was my average speed between their two timing points) which resulted in a fine of £500...

93mph on Rte. 93 in NH. The judge sure thought that was funny and asked me if I had gotten the Rte. signs mixed up with the speed limit signs.
My choice: 30 day loss of license or $325.00 fine.
I drove away....

Booked doing 250 km/Hr in a Nissan 300 ZX TT in a 110 zone. Had the Porsche up to 240 km/Hr once, got held up by traffic had to slow down (formation drivers..) and immediately after was pulled over. Officer comes over and says "Do you know what speed you were doing? We clocked you doing 110 km/Hr in a 90 zone!" For some reason my passenger found that exceedingly funny and I had a hard time telling the officer that he wasn't laughing at him......
cheers,

Friend of mine, Johnny Campbell-Slight (mention name as it's brilliant) got stopped on M40 at 3.00am for doing 150mph+ (150 being top speed of plod car, he'd actually been doing 190!) in Daley Thompsons (famous English decathelete) 959.
He avoided jail by offering the police a drive in the 959 take the 959 for a run whilst he followed in the Police car with the other Policeman!

I have nothing that approaches those stories, so will shoot for the record for a speeding ticket going the slowest on an Interstate. How about a speeding ticket for going 52 mph on I-70 west of Baltimore?
Not an urban myth, but reality during the "gas crunch" of the mid-'70s, when MD had a 50 mph speed limit. I'll fess up that it wasn't actually my ticket, but was won by someone I knew. I was driving at 49 mph at that time. Rumor had it that they actually issued tickets for 1 mph over the limit.

High,
my luck has finnally ran out last weekend, the last ten(10) times I,ve been pulled over I have been let go, even once after 125mph. Get this, on a twisting forest road at 8:00 on last sunday morn. i was clocked doing 63 in a 30(road very twisty w/ no shoulders). On a short stetch slowing into a crest mr. state park police meets me at the top of the crest and we go through the usual procedure and he comes back to my car and hands me a 63 mph in a 30 zone, certainly not the fastest ive ever gone(done 80 on this particular road before) but certainly the most damageing to my licence, in new york thats a 8 point offense,
pleading not guilty and have to go to court next month, for the record ive had 0 points for at least 5 yrs. this is equivelent to taking a **** on my license, not 1 mph break was granted. We'll see what happens at court. 'scuse me for living...

Did not get stopped but the fastest I have been in a car ever was in a road going Kremer 935 on the M4. The car was owned by an old customer of mine who was a total Porsche nut and had quite a collection. It had a speedo but it was pretty useless so when we got to our destination we got out the calculator and did some sums... egine rpm, gearing, wheels, tyres and got a result of aprox 185mph <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

The only ticket I've gotten in the p-car is for doing 49 in a 40mph zone! Saturday morning, 7:00, road empty, 2 mile straightaway, forest preserve on both sides. I don't know who should be more embarrassed, me or him - probably me. I have driven faster, honest! Geo2Cab, what's your secret for getting out of 10 stops?
