Post PPI Completed on 93 C2

Well, I got the PPI results on the 93 C2 Coupe, 5sp, 43k miles, completed by Mayo Performance in Dallas. No show stoppers that I can see.
>Body and interior in very good to outstanding condition. All original.
>Has DMF.
>There is an extra return spring on the throttle linkage. Present owner (3rd) does not know why.
>NO Vent Kit installed, but belt appears to be in very good condition - no teeth missing. Probably original.
>Engine Pan intact.
>No visible or apparent leaks
>Leak down: 15, 17, 18, 12, 15, 12.
-
Obviously, first priortiy is to install vent kit.
-
So, I am off to Dallas early Saturday morning, conclude the deal, and drive this new baby back to WashDC. (1,300 miles) Really looking forward to this trip! Can't wait!

Congrats!

Have you considered getting a bra for the nose and mirrors? I know the timing's tight, now, but it might help keep your baby intact on the long ride home. Performance Products could probably get it to you quickly. Just a thought.

Good luck!

Joey, the present owner has a bra which he is putting on for me for the trip. Last evening, I ordered some goodies from Performance Products (yeah, yeah, I know, big bucks) - included are the mirror bras and a flexible oil spout in case I have to add oil during the trip. 2 day delivery.

By the way, if anyone knows anyone interested in a decent 83SC, send them to this site:
http://www.patalive.com/por
I will be listing it here on the Rennlist classifieds and other places too. Thanks.

I am in the market for a C2 also. If you don't mind, how much did you pay for the car?

thanks,

Anthony, price was in the very high 20s. -

TWO Questions - - - does the 964 use a compressor to pump up the mini spare if you have a flat tire, similar to the SC? If so, I need to ensure the pump is there.
-
Did Adrian every publish his 964 book? Just curious.

Thanks

Yes, there should be a compressor in the spare wheel

And we are all still waiting for Adrian's book, he promises that it is getting closer.....

Great to hear the PO already had the bra. Sweet!

I have a question for you, Chuck. Is the car you purchased currently listed on the Autotrader website? [quote] 1993 Porsche 911 C2 Coupe, 5 spd., Guards Red, Tan Interior, Kenwood stereo w/CD changer and 6 speakers, mechanically perfect, records, all original, no body damage history, full bra.

I'm helping my friend, Lefty, locate one and he's trying to get a similar deal. Hi $20's is a great price for such a car, IMO, but he's holding out for bottom dollar.

Hope I didn't steal your thunder by posting a pic of your car for you. Definitely a nice addition to the family.

Joey - - - Yep, that's the one. Seller told me he originally had it listed in the mid 30s, but had reduced the price.
-
For your friend, check out Rennlist listing for a 91 C2 Red/black in NC, 58k miles. Seller is asking $30k but my sense is he is "negotiable" This is the gentleman who just purchased a 928. I talked to the mechanic currently maintaining the car, as well as the PO before the present owner, and was on the verge of a PPI. My sense was that it was a respectable car worth considering. Car has been on the market since April - found it on the Carolinas PCA web site.
-
By the way, very interesting when I ran the VIN, CARFAX said it was an RS America, but I know it's not because of one the digits 42, rather than 41. Someone ought to tell CARFAX they have a problem. Beware for those of you seeking RS Americas.

Got my C2 in Feb. and drove it home. First leg to Texarkana since the deal was concluded late in the day. Next day to Knoxville, then Knox to Balto. The roads in Arkansas are the worst ever encountered bar none. You have to drive in the passing lane since the trucks have totally ripped up the slow lane on Rt. 40. My only regret was not stopping at the Jack Daniels Distillery. It's a bit out of the way and I had to be back home for work reasons rather soon.

Thanks, Chuck, for the confirmation, lead and cautionary message. It's very much appreciated.

Sailswish, that Jack Daniels tour is well worth the stop. I used to be the sales manager down in that area and made the trip to Lynchburg as part of a "team-building" exercise for my group. It's gorgeous horse-farm country and the history is fascinating.

Happy trails.
